Orb of silvery death query
We have the orb and since noone else in the party wanted it. I got stuck with it. It has no power stones. What can it do and what should I watch out for?

Re: Orb of silvery death query
Players are not considered welcome in this forum...it is intended for DMs only, so that they may have private discussion of this adventure and not worry about their PCs looking over their shoulders.
I'm not trying to be rude here, but I really doubt that anyone in this forum is going to help you or answer your questions. Why are you trying to get outside information about the adventure? Why not identify it? Do you not think that it's cheating to be asking things like this?
If you genuinely must know, you may as well just pick up a copy of the module off of a gaming store's shelf, flip through it to the appendix, and look it up. Otherwise, please don't spoil the game for yourself, your fellow players, and your DM.

There should be a message somewhere where it says DM's only then. Don't get pissy with me. My DM's screwing around with our party and information about this item which should be accesible from within the game is not.
Don't whine at me.

DM's Only!
"For all things Elemental and Evil. For DM's Only! Lots of Spoilers!"
It DOES say DM's Only. Anyway, no one here will likely help you with the item, but perhaps you should encourage your DM to post here and help resolve the issue. If you feel your party is slighted from misinformation or lack of information, you should bring it up with him/her.
I wish you luck in your adventures.

Re: DM's Only!
Admittedly, the only place it says that it's DM's Only is in the list of forums...nowhere within this forum itself (through a link, or perhaps the bottom-of-the-screen forum selection) does it mention anything about it.
Could someone suggest to the Powers That Be that we add the byline Infiniti2000 is quoting to the top of the RttToEE Forum Page? I can see how this is an easy enough mistake to make, even though I'm not keen on someone trying to get in-module secrets out of a forum like this.
As for Infinity2000's suggestion...it's a good one. Jade, if you do read this, please DO encourage your DM to come here and discuss the adventure with us. We're always happy to help out fellow DMs, and if he's having some issues with what information, and how, to reveal to his players, we can give him some solid advice and suggestions. These may well help solve the "we're being hosed" problems you're talking about.
Again, even if this wasn't a DM only forum, I'm wondering why you would be asking for secret information (the powers of an item you found in the adventure)? Did you try to Identify it and have no success? Have you attempted an Analyze Dweomer (6th level identification spell)? These are standard means for identifying an item, and if your DM is not letting them work, then there may well be something else wrong here, and all the more reason to have him or her come talk to us.
We're not mean people...really we're not. But we are fairly strongly biased against players in this forum. Much of it comes from our own desire to completely kick back and discuss anything that goes on here, knowing that we won't give any secrets away, or have our players look over our shoulders and spoil the adventure (for themselves, and their fellow players, as well as for us).

Amen Brother Andorax
I and Brekki for example are both DM's and we live in the same house. We play D&D together and already we know that we shall never play together with RttToEE.
I will most likely DM it some day, but never play it because I already know too much. Then again, why be a player, when you can DM

I haven't read any info about the adventure plots, just about the rules.

We will run it then, when we finish the current campaign. Shouldn't take too long, you guys just have to kill Hextor, Orcus, Graz'zt and Nerull
a snap right?

co-DM's
Brekki, get the heck off this forum! Haven't you been reading this thread? Players are not allowed!
No seriously, maybe you two could co-DM? You could each run an NPC and maybe take turns DMing...Xaod and Torjon come to mind.

Re: co-DM's
Co-DMing is a great idea, expecially if you have a large group of players or a very samll group of player.
If you have a large group (6+) sometimes the battles get pretty large and it would be great to have one DM be the tactician and the other do the math and look up rules, keep track of spell durations etc.
If you have a small group (4 or less) a co-DM could run any NPC's the party may acquire, and help RP through large non-combat situations.
It is something I wish I had thought of before. I have 7 players and a co-DM would be handy at times.
It is something to consider if you have 2 experienced DM's who want to run RttToEE.

Re: co-DM's
If I had a co-DM, my PCs would be slaughtered all the time. Thanks to the Hivemind (hey, didya see it? We're in the BoVD!!), I can give my group of 6 a good run for their money. Of course, they hardly ever think about the adventure, their options or their characters between sessions, so while my goons are whaling away at them they're trying to find out if they've got any feats that might help them. Bitter? Me? Naaaah.

Re: co-DM's
Co-DM'ing could work, but then is should be pure DM'ing, neither dm should have a PC running around. I've seen it work a few times. One DM running the adventure, the other one the NPC's.
I'm not reading the threads, just Killiak's replies ... but I get the idea, I agree that players shouldn't lurk here, reading stuff about how trap X, monster Y or NPC Z should be dealt with.

Brekki, what willl you do if Kelliak replaies in a thread entitled: Hidden magic sword in are 30 of the Moat House?
It is our considered opinion that even the post titles can be giveaways.
If Kelliak has directly allowed you to go here, then I apologize, but if he hasn't, I really look forward to reading your posts in other fora and suggest that you leave this one alone.

I just forget it ... I forget everything that is not important or that I should not know of. (everything besides rules, equations and numbers that is )
... all I remember now is "30 ft" and "boat" or "moat", and that will be nothing once/if we ever play the adventure.

So for the time being I changed the heading of the FAQ to include a note that this forum is for DM's only.
That's as much power as I have as a moderator. I'll see if Monte can do anything else.
Does that work for you guys?
