Healing for ToAC campaign?
I'm starting to think ahead to Rastor and the CRM and wondered how those of you further along have found your party deals with healing for the ToAC assault. I've read a lot about shopping trip options, but not about healing. Did you put anyone special in Rastor besided Rerrid (he's only 5th level though)? Or, did you find they just prepared reasonably well on their shopping trips (however you handled those) and just rested way more than they would have needed to with Hommlet closer by?

I have been cooking up a neat rationale for Y'dey to make the trip and set up shop incognito in Rastor just like the old days in Nulb. I had initially thought of the idea to give them an information contact nearby and I also to fix how disjoint the connections to Hommlet were in the beginning and end of the adventures. This should provide a little more continuity through the NPC that's starting to be their least favorite to deal with (but of course the one with the most info :b ).

Then, I started to realize that she could actually fill a job as supplemental healer as well (until their cleric can raise, restore, etc.). Not to mention if Tal goes/gets killed, the town is in for some serious hurt without some healing power. It could make for an intersting side bit in clensing the town of the addiction, if it comes to that...

Anyway, I'll post more about this idea when I have the backstory for her trip more fleshed out, but I'm curious about other healing experiences way out yonder...

My group mostly handles their own healing. On occasion, they do one month in Verbobonc where the cleric crafts a wand or two, but that's it. Also, a lot of the grunts have cure potions. And if said grunts die in a fireball, the (slightly warm) potions are usually there for the picking.

The highest level PC in my party is the cleric, so they usually have healing to hand...since there were several ranger levels in the group as well, a few of the characters spent the 750gp and bought their own 'cleric-on-a-stick'...plus the potion bottles salvaged off alot of the slain guards.

Ditto what HeresDaryl said...check the description of all those War1s again. Yup...they've ALL got healing potions.

A decently focused Cleric and all those potions, and they hardly even need to go to Rastor to visit Rerrid.

OK, that's good to know on the direct healing front. Was the lack of a nearby raise a problem before they could do it themselves? Thanks for the input.

Before Lyssa reached 9th, most of my players just took dead to mean dead, and went with a new PC.

Then again, due to circumstances, recoverable PC corpses were at a serious premium.

IMC, it's the same as Andorax. Characters who die are pretty much dead and usually unrecoverable. If the party wants to raise someone really bad, then they have to go to Verbobonc. Makes raise dead much more valuable, I guess. If you want you could have a dwarven cleric be one of the dwarves who move in to the Dwarven Temple after it's found.

My PCs bought a raise dead scroll or two and hoped that the cleric and/or rogue got lucky on the rolls.
