Errata/Questions
I also posted this on the Yahoo group
I dont know if anyone has covered these already, but I could not see any reference to these in the current errata document.
These are a few possible errors that I have found concerning some of the characters in the CRM. Some of these are a bit nitpicky but could have a big effect on the game. I just want to be prepared and use them all to full effect. Please let me know if any of my assumptions are wrong.
1) Firre Oranac's speed should be reduced to 15 for wearing chainmail.
2) Graud should be able to Rage twice per day at Bbn4.
3) Kalashien's Con bonus to HP is too large, I think her HP's are okay. Also her Insanity score should be 3 for a cleric of her level.
4) Moolowik should have a sneak attack of 2d6.
5) Reokallitan should also have a sneak attack of 2d6.
6) Murant's attacks surely should be +4/+4 with the double attack with damage being 1d8+5/1d8+3 (seems to miss the weapons +1) I am still a little fuzzy on multiple attacks and damage.
7) Swordmaster's speed should be 20 with his Half Plate armour.
Tarren the druid should be able to Wild Shape(Large).
9) Ulurg's CR should be +2 for being a Kuo-Toa.
10) Uskathoth's CR should be +1 for being a Trog.
11) Virith's attack with a bow should be +8 (or +9 with the MW arrows)(BA=4, +3 Dex, +1 Masterwork bonus).
12)The Large Skum in area 194 have MW Hvy Crossbows. Should these deal 1d10 damage, or does making them clockwork and reducing the range also reduce the damage?
If anyone could confirm/correct these assumptions I would be
grateful.
Thanks,
Chris.

Re: Errata/Questions
Also, Imix is listed with six melee attacks at +33/+28/+23/+18/+13/+8 - most rulebooks seem to cap it at four. Should this also be modified?

Re: Errata/Questions
The Imix thing is because RtToEE was written before many of the 3rd edition rules were finalized, and the four attack max wasn't solidified then. It's not even entirely clear that iterative attacks based solely on monster HD should cap at 4.

Re: Errata/Questions
Sorry for not replying quickly. Siobharek, do you want us to post to the errata thread or here? I'll add some more when I get the chance. Except as noted below, I agree with your errata melanikus2000.
3. Her HP's are based on average, so they should be reduced to 38 (from 45, avg of 7d8+7=38.5).
6. Also, in order for Murant to have Ambidexterity, he needs a Dex of 15 (currently 14), but that doesn't change any other stats. I think his attacks should be +8 (1d8+5/x3) and +8 (1d8+3/x3). You are right about the damage. His attacks are calculated from BAB +5, STR +4, +1 orc double axe, -2 to each hand for two weapons (off-hand light, amb., twf). With rage, it is +10 (1d8+7/x3) and +10 (1d8+4/x3).
11. I agree, it should be +9 (he has no non-masterwork arrows). Also, the damage with a longsword should be 1d8+3 (only 16 strength, masterwork does not add to the damage).
12. A heavy crossbow has 1d10 damage, but dunno about the intent on the underwater version. I'd give Monte the benefit of the doubt and say he meant 1d8. Also, from the errata page, I think the advanced Skum ranged attack should be +8 instead of +7, because of BAB +4, Dex +3, masterwork +1, weapon focus +1, and size -1.
New:
pg. 173 (C37-52) -- From the errata page: Krall's rend should be 2d6+10, not 2d6+9, because Str 24 +7 x 1.5 = +10. Not that he'll rend with that sword. Also, his Dex needs to be a 15 for Ambidexterity. His reflex save should be +4, as listed in the module, because he is a troll (base reflex save +2, dex +2). Although Ftr 2 adds nothing.
pg. 55 (C5) -- "The secret door south of this room is only secret from the west..." This corresponds more with the text in the Tactics section.
pg. 173 (C 8 ) -- Mereclar does not have Ride (Howler), so he probably wouldn't ride it in battle. Suggestion: change Listen +10 to Listen +5 and add Ride (Howler) +8.
pg. 176 (C11) -- Terrenygit is listed as enjoying to use Hold Person, yet doesn't have it under 2nd level spells prepared. If he likes it that much, he should have it prepared in addition to the scroll. Suggestion: replace spiritual weapon with hold person.
pg. 46 (C12) -- Terrenygit, a 5th level cleric, can only command 2 zombies (each has 2HD), unless he animated them himself, in which case he can command all of them (because they do not count toward the limit). I suggest the latter, so he can command all of them (i.e. strike the second sentence under Creatures.

Re: Errata/Questions
Hi gang,
I'm a little caught up in being with the family which kinda takes away from my online-time.
If at all possible, I think it would be best if the errata^2 were kept off the errata thread - simply to keep it less cluttered. I promise that I will update the errata thread ASAP.
Thanks - and Happy New Year!

Heh. This was posted while I was in the process of adding to the errata thread. Sorry about the clutter.

Re: Errata/Questions
I've added some of the errata, but not all: Moolowik is a lvl 4 rogue. According to my PH, rogues don't get 2d6 sneak attack until they reach lvl 5.
Also, I must admit that it takes an awful long time for me to find the page no./encounter area where the errata'd NPC in question is found. It would really, really help, if those data were included.
But don't worry, I'll have all of the errata^2 up in the forseeable future.

Re: Errata/Questions
Rogues get +2d6 sneak attack at third level and +3d6 sneak attack at 5th level. It's basically +1d6 every odd level. Of course, I'm looking at the SRD. Are you looking at the 1st or 2nd printing of the PHB?
Edit: I've checked the PHB (2nd printing) and it's in there, though to the right in the crease of the book. Maybe you hit your head earlier?

Re: Errata/Questions
p.114 (OF19) Master Hedrack has a "vacuous grimoire" on his bookshelf. Anybody know what that might be good for?
p.121 (OF30) Mistress Naquent has "boots of dancing" in one of her chests....
Is this stuff in a book I didn't purchase or is it old stuff from a previous edition that didn't make the cut?

Both are in the DMG in the Cursed Items section. The boots, in particular, should bring many moments of joy to your players.

Re: Errata/Questions
I just happened to read your post shortly after you wrote it and I seem to have extra time on my hands during the holiday season.
Welcome to the boards! Please check out the session logs posted in this forum and peruse the many threads (some unfortunately dying little deaths each day).
BTW, anyone know if Monte stores this forum in particular? Compressed, I can't think it would take much space.

Nope, the forum is not archived. That's what the Errata, FAQ, and Best of the Boards is for.
Bummer, I know, but that's one of the limitations of using EZBoards.

Re: Errata/Questions
Moolowik's sneak attack: Oh. I've got a 1st printing. Odd, it's not even in the errata (PHB, not RttToEE ). Well, I'll cure my New Year's Day hangover with some errata updating, if the missus and kid will let me.
Happy New Year, all.

Re: Errata/Questions
Okay, a few more (Map B). I'm going through the entire module (again, for maybe the 5th time), but this time I'm going through in great detail. My party is not yet at the CRM, so I have time to go through it. Also, our rotating DM schedule will probably occur when they hit Rastor, so I'll have even more time.
pg. 49 (C26) - The fiendish girallon should have darkvision 60'. If you award XP for him as a trap (as listed), he then is CR 6 (CR 5 +1 for fiendish). This makes the EL 8 for the area, not EL 7 as in the errata. If you allow it, the search DC is 30 and the disable device DC is 30. For dispel magic, the caster level is 9.
pg. 49 (C27) - "...conveyor belt is on the western side of the platform..." Also, is the conveyor the only way up? At least, there should be a ruined ladder nearby, say on the eastern side.
pg. 49 (C25-28 ) - The eastern half (with the water) is 25 feet lower (see pg. 48 C21), thus the kuo-toa can't see onto the land (a 25-ft cliff) from the water. Also, the cliff actually must lower gradually as one travels from C28 to C25, until the ground is roughly even with the water. Alternatively, you make make a slight waterfall down to area C25.
pg. 173 (Moolowik, pg. 49 C28 ) - His AC should be 22 (touch 11, flat-footed 22): +6 natural, +3 leather +1, +2 lg. shield, +1 dex. His Atk should be "+7 and +1", not "+7/+1", lest he attack twice with the halfspear. He has no insanity score (not a cleric) or insanity SQ. This must be a copy and paste bug by Monte.

Whew - thanks to Inifiniti2000 for including references. All errata have been updated as of Jan. 4th 2003. And thanks for keeping the flames off my back for being a little tardy.

Your welcome. Don't worry about being tardy. I'll try not to keep them coming too fast. I hope someone's double-checking this stuff, too.
One more thing (for this post) that I found out tonight.
pg. 169 (RT - 16) - Rarkus has a +1 two-bladed sword. This sword has only one side enchanted. This makes the weapon worth 2700gp and within a 5th level NPC's limit of 4300gp (including the chainmail +1 and other stuff). This means that his attacks are +7 (1d8+6/19-20) and +6 (1d8+5/19-20). Otherwise, a doubly enchanted two-bladed sword (you have to individually enchant both ends) is 4700gp and he will have way too much equipment.

Re: Errata/Questions (Map C)
Sorry for giving you more work, Siobharek If it helps, I turned off ezCodes so you can just copy and paste and then enable them, if you trust me. The errata for this post is mostly Map C. Btw, for the formatting in the Appendix, I think it should be as below, for easier reference on bad guys. Let me know for the next time, and if I should include just the one room where they are identified or the normal range of movement for that person.
pg. 51 (C34) - The total hide bonus fort he old umber hulk should be +3: +6 circumstance, +1 dex, -4 large.
pg. 52 (C37) - "The bow is a mighty composite..." It has a strength rating, so this avoids confusion.
pg. 53 (C40) - Last paragraph of the tactics section, "Tippesh unleashes ..." Delete "spends most of the day in mage armor...and" She cannot cast mage armor. Her prohibited school is conjuration.
pg. 54 (C44) - "Slaazh, a 2nd-level troll fighter in chainmail carrying a greatsword, stands ..."
Delete "Huge" and "(2d8 damage)" or remove the shield and and add:
pg. 175 (Slaazh, C44) - change two descriptions to "masterwork Huge greatsword". The damage is 2d8+10 (because it is two-handed).
pg. 55 (C45 and C47) - The EL is 6 (eight human warriors, each at CR 1 due to extra equipment).
pg. 56 (C51) - "The cries and clashes...rounds and the gnolls in area 50 in 1d4+2 rounds." The gnolls are not too far away that they cannot hear a pitched battle. I made it an extra round to move the extra 40-60 feet.
pg. 171 (D'Gran, C43) - Add to attacks, "... or +10 melee (1d8+8, bite) and +5 melee (1d6+4, 2 claws)". Add another feat (half-fiends have one every four levels, so D'Gran should have two). Suggestion: combat reflexes.
pg. 172 (Heunar, C40) - The average HP is 14, not 13. Dunno if it matters, though, by the time the party gets here.
pg. 173 (Krall, C37) - Add to possessions "key for chest in room 38."
pg. 175 (Slaazh, C44) - Add to possessions "key for chest in room 38." Also, his climb check should be +3: -6 armor check, +7 Str, +2 skill points.
pg. 177 (Tippesh, C40) - The average HP is 24 (forgot the toughness feat). To prepare 5 0th-level spells, one must be evocation. Suggestion: replace mage hand with light. Delete the paragraph about mage armor. She cannot cast it (her prohibited school is conjuration).

Re: Errata/Questions (Map C)
That was very considerate indeed! Thanks a lot. As to the page reference to the area number - yeah, it might be redundant. But it seems like too much work now to go and remove the existing - also people have been so kind as to give me page ref.s to a lot of the areas in the Errata, and I don't want to make their work go for nothing. The ez-codes are a godsend, though. Thanks again. I'll get on it sometime during the night (your time - I'm at work )

Re: Errata/Questions (Map C)
Eep! For some reason, EZBoards won't let me edit the file any more. It looks like it's a matter of size, as the text in the Comment window stops somewhere in the middle of Tessimon's comments. I have absolutely no idea what to do - except redo the Errata thread.
Moderators, any ideas what can be done?

I think it would make sense to have the other end at least masterwork.
