Gah... J & K have been updated. You're a machine, Inf2K.

Sorry it took so long. Work's been more hectic than usual.

Map L
Last CRM Map, and probably last update until I have finished all my preparations for the CRM for my group. So, the OF, IF, and RT will have to wait.

pg. 101 (General Notes) - "The complex of areas 218-234..." This is in a couple of places where it says 236, which doesn't exist.

pg. 104 (C230) - Swordmaster, the bite is 1d4+1 damage.

pg. 105 (C233) - Greshta has a major problem with the chitin breast plate. It is not only medium armor (reduces her speed, can't use evasion), but also as a rogue and troglodyte, she is not proficient in medium armor, thus she would get minuses to attack rolls. Suggestion: replace the chitin breast plate with masterwork chain shirt, reduce AC to 22, increase hide and move silently by 2 (because of difference in AC penalties).

Edit: Oops about the ezCodes. The chitin armor is treated as masterwork and allows +1 dex, nothing about being treated as a different category. It actually says something about having the same weight I think.

2 points:

Could I prevail on you to turn off the EZCodes? You usually do so, and it makes my job so much easier.

Second, while I don't have my books in front of me, I would think that the chitin armour is treated as one category lighter, in which case it's light armour, and Greshta should be fine. However, as I don't have my books with me, I can't corrobate.

You've done a great job so far. I look forward to seeing the rest of your errata.

Re: Map L
The text of the chitin armor does not state that it is light armor. Unless it has been left out I, too, would consider it Medium armor.

I won't swear to it, but I thought I remembered that chitin was in Arms & Equipment now. I just spent ~10 minutes browsing through it yesterday--wish I had read this first! :) Anyone have it already?

pg. 180 Dirass
It doesn't show his spellbook and what is in it. Has anyone made one up, and should this be in the errata.

Re: pg. 180 Dirass
It most certainly should be in the errata. I've made one - for a boosted Dirass (sorry!), but let's see what we can come up with...

I'll enter the Map L errata now.

I am boosting up everyone in the Outer Fane and beyond. I am adding a group of Drow to the mix that will be in the CRM.

Yrthuk and Tychon

This one confuses me a little. Much is made of Yrthuk Innar's extra gear, even raising his CR from 12 to 13. Yet Tychon is better equipped, and he is CR 11.

Yrthuk:
+1 Full Plate Armor: 2,650
+1 Large Steel Shield: 1,170
+1 Bastard Sword of Wounding: 18,335
Ring of Protection +2: 8,000
Gauntlets of Ogre Power: 4,000
Hand of the Mage: 1,000
(+ scattered potions)
Total: 35,155

Tychon:
+4 Heavy Mace: 32,312
+2 Full Plate of SR 13: 17,650
+2 Large Steel Shield: 4,170
(+scattered stuff)
Total: 54,132

Any ideas here? Raise Tychon up to CR12? Drop Yrthuk back to 12? Both? Redistribute wealth (Swap +1 plate with plate of SR13)?

Re: Yrthuk and Tychon
SIERK, you make a good point. The module is contradictory. I've noticed the same thing a long time ago about the CR1 human warriors. I didn't think it was a big deal. In this case, either way you go you probably end up with the same thing. I like the idea of switching their armor, though. That +4 heavy mace is the real kicker, but the party needs it at that point in order to take the fight to Imix and through the iron golems, etc. Of course, many parties will skip the inner fane first. :\

1/2 Elemental Lareth from the BoB
I've checked out the four-way half-elemental Lareth from the BoB and noticed a couple of errata. IMC, I plan on using him, though I might raise him a couple of levels or give him the doomdreamer PrC.

1. Rebuke undead 4/day (due to upgraded charisma)
2. His possessions should include the masterwork quarterstaff
3. Wisdom 20 for all wisdom-based checks
4. Listing obscuring mist twice is confusing, it might be better to list it as "obscuring mist (2/day)" so that the DM knows that ability can be used twice per day (once from air and once from water)

Skills & Feats problems with errata
I was in the process of updating the PDF FAQ when I noticed a few consistent issues that I don't think are quite right.

The biggest is that I think someone overestimated the skill points for monsters with 2+ base HD that also have character classes. I am almost certain that such a monster does not get the 4x skill point boost for first level that a 1 HD base creature does (who actually trades that 1 HD for the character HD). Although not core rules, Savage Species bears this out pretty clearly when adding character classes to monsters.

The one that got me thinking about this is Terrenygit (CRM A). I really think he should only have just a straight 2 x 5 = 10 skill points (not 16 per the current errata on him), 5 going into Concentration and 5 into Knowledge (religion)--both class skills. Trog base for Hide is +6, but they have 3 ranks in it, not 2 since their base Dex is -1 (+4 racial + 3 ranks -1 Dex = +6). But Terrenygit has a Dex of 10, so he has +4 racial +3 ranks -6 armor -2 shield = -1, which is I think where the errata lies, not with his skill points.

I couldn't find the orriginal thread for tha particular errata bit (it didn't seem to be in here), so I wasn't able to check for any discussion about that.

Another simple example is the Kua-Toa Fighters (pg 170). They have the same stats as a base Kua-Toa (2 HD). Their added leather adds no additional skill penalty. If you compare their skills to the base Kua-Toa, they only differ by the 1 point in Listen (cross-class, 2 points) and the strange Swim number. They certainly don't come anywhere close to using 3x4 = 12 skill points above the base Kua-Toa that a 1st level Fighter would get--it's much closer to just the 3 from the point I made above. The swim number can actually be explained pretty easily as being the racial +8 - 6 for ~32 lbs. of equipment. So, if you dump all 3 points into Listen (effectively +10.5 then), the skill mods come out about right.

Comments? Triple-checks?

I don't have the time tonight to go through more of them regularly right now, but I'll check some more as I put stuff into the PDF and better formatted cut & paste suggestions if this turns out to be correct.

BTW, looking ahead to 3.5, one huge issue updating this module will be the feat track, which is changing for all monsters and monsterous characters. It's going to a very simple (HD+CL)/3 (round down) + 1 progression rule (before racial bonuses; CL=class levels), but might result in a tweak to most of the monsterous NPCs.

Re: Descritad
I'm not surprised that SS has thrown up more stuff for RttToEE - SS probably makes some slight adjustments from the version of the rules that Monte used to add class levels to his monsters with classes. Unfortunately, I don't have time to double check at the moment... sorry, Zans.

But I am reviewing Descritad's stats for my party's encounter with her this weekend, and I noticed with a quick glance that her speed is wrong - as a halfling barbarian, it should be 30 ft, not 40 ft. I'll edit this post with whatever else I find after I've checked it out more thoroughly.

Re: Descritad
Zans, I agree that monsters wioth character classes should not get the 4x skill points treatment for their first character level. It says quite clearly in the MM that such monsters are treated as multiclassed individuals.

However, I'm not too sure whether we should update the Errata to take updated rules into account. On one hand, it will keep us all busy for the forseeable future. On the other hand, it will keep us all busy for the forseeable future. ;) What I mean is that it might become a vicious circle where we scramble to keep up with any new rule WotC might crank out.

Andorax suggested a while ago that we could make a thread to chart 3.5 changes to the monsters. I'd say that until then we errata (is that a verb?) according to the SRD/Core Books and put the rest in the BoB, cf. the Vile Changes and the Splat Book Changes.

What do you guys think?

Ah, sorry it was late when I posted that so the end might have blended with my primary point too much (about the skill points). |I

I only put that feat comment in there as a notification of things to come, not as a recommendataion that we start doing it now. I'm not sure I want to do a 3.5 IMC, although it will be tempting ;) I just put it out there to be something to keep in mind if one wants to start doing it. I agree that it should be a completely separate thread/post.

The skill point bit is what I will be concentrating on as I edit the PDF version.

Re: Descritad
Finished my Descritad check: a couple of things that can go immediately after the entry for Slaazh in the same room (p54, C44). Haven't made any recommendations, as different groups will probably want to do it differently,

Also, Descritad has a couple of errors: her speed should be 30 ft, not 40 ft; her AC is 15 (it’s only 19 if she’s wearing her chain shirt); her possessions in area 43 don’t include a masterwork mighty composite shortbow (+1 Str bonus); she has unallocated skill points (even if you treat the skills listed as including her chain shirt’s armour check penalty); and when in rage with her masterwork scimitar, her damage should be 1d6+4/18-20, since she has to wield the Medium sized weapon in two hands.
