Re: Errata-ed Errata or Anti-Errata
I'm finally going through the few errata changes over the last two months and entering them into the PDF file. I've found a few things that I think need tweaking or changing. Bits between ==== could be copied and pasted, if you want. Other changes will require mergings or deletions.

----

CRM A

Terrenygit: as mentioned in my post above, his skills as listed in the text are fine (I just redid the calculation today). The two paragraphs about the problem should be struck and this errata should go in their place:

====
p. 46 (C11) - Terrenygit's Hide skill is one too high. It should be Hide -1 (+7 base trog, +0 Dex, -6 full plate, -2 steel shield).
====

The next paragraph about the zombies (C12) should also be struck. The statement in the text is right. animate dead allows a total control of 2 HD per caster level, for Terrenygit, that's 20 HD or 10 zombies. As a side note, if he successfully turns the other two, he can command them as well and thus, all 12.

----

CRM C

Descritad: Not only is her AC 15, but her touch AC with the chain shirt is 15 as well (not 13 as listed). A small comment could be insterted into Caedrel's bit already there to drive this point home.

I slapped her into PCGen (which will eventually appear in the file archive) to check out the skill point issue and found another error: her bonuses with the bow are wrong.

====
Descritad's bonuses with her bow are wrong. Her attack bonus should be +11 (+5 base, +4 Dex, +1 size, +1 masterwork). The damage should be 1d6+1 (not +2).
====

Re her extra skill points: First, as with the attack bonuses and AC, the skills are certainly listed with her full equipment in mind. How many skill points she has left depends on which class she took at first level. I assumed barbarian, since it's close to the statted version.

Here's a slightly more specific version of Caedrel's bit on this:

====
Without her armor, all of Descritad's listed skills except for Listen, Spot, Swim, and Wilderness Lore get an adjustment of +2. Swim gets adjusted by +3.

Descritad appears to have 3 rogue skill points unspent. I'd suggest giving her 2 ranks in Open Lock and one in Disable Device so she can take advantage of her masterwork thief's tools. Add these to her Skills: Disable Device +3, Open Lock +8. Without her tools, they are -1 and +4, respectively.
====

----

CRM E

Fachish (C73): The errata about him having too many ranks can be struck. He does have 40 points! He's 7th not 5th level as the errata paragraph suggests: 4*4 + 4*6 = 16 + 24 = 40.

----

That's all I've got for now. I'm still going through it, though and will post more later if I find more.

Re: Errata-ed Errata or Anti-Errata
Thanks for checking up on the errata. The skills are tough to figure out sometimes, especially with monster HD mixed in with character levels, and changing stats. Ugg. Oomkaan was the worst.

"The next paragraph about the zombies (C12) should also be struck. The statement in the text is right. animate dead allows a total control of 2 HD per caster level, for Terrenygit, that's 20 HD or 10 zombies. As a side note, if he successfully turns the other two, he can command them as well and thus, all 12."

Terrenygit is 5th caster level, that makes 5*2=10HD, which is 5 zombies. How do you get 20? If Terrenygit created all the zombies himself, then he can automatically command those 5, plus he can expend turning attempts to command up to another 2 (HD not to exceed his). Since the turning check and damage guarantees at least 4HD, he can auto-command up to 7 zombies maximum.

{How do you get 20?}

SRD, Basics:

Quote:
Math

Use normal mathematics for most calculations. There are two exceptions. First, 2 x 5 = 20 because of the importance of 20 in the d20 system. Second, this one goes to 11.

:\

I'll just plead "it was late!" :)

OK, I think this is what we need then:

====
p. 46 (C12) -- Terrenygit, a 5th level cleric, can only command 2 zombies (each has 2HD) through successful turning attempts. If he animated them himself he can command an additional 5 of them (2 x 5th level cleric = 10 HD) automatically.

Chittin is heavy armor but 1/2 the weight.

Re: Map E: E^2
More E^2 for Map E:

----

Claaginred tweaks:

AC 17 (+1 Dex, +7 natural, -1 size) [Med->Large gives +3 natural]

Fort +12 (+6 for 8HD magical beast, +6 for Con)

Skills: He can't take Tumble as suggested in the errata as a class skill. I'd stick the extra point into Hide since it gets so nerfed by the size increase. Advancement distro is then Hide +2, Listen +1, Spot +1.

You can probably take out the line about 'please check' since at least two of us have done the advancement now.

----

Poolidib's skills are correct in the text. The paragraphs about the skill adjustment should be struck. He gets (2+1) x 5 = 15 additional skill points for Clr 5 and has 5 ranks in Concentration, 5 in Heal, 1 in Listen, 1 in Spellcraft, and 3 in Spot. The Insanity adjustment is correctly taken into account in the text. I have a chart with the calculations, if anyone is interested.

----

Siob, I hope to try to finish my pass through the rest tomorrow, so you might want to slack off putting this in if you're getting tired of these little updates!

Cool, I'll hold off the editing. I'm goping to the dentist later today (it's either a crown or a root canal, depending on teh X-rays. God hates me.), so I'll just wait.

One thing: How many ranks has Claagingred put into Hide? Can you put the extra Tumble point on Hide without breaking the Rank limit? I'm just checking, as I - as usual - don't have my book with me.

Good question. I can double check tonight, I'm pretty sure going up 4 HD he can stash 2 points in Hide on the way.

BoB erratum...
I've just been revisiting the BoB thread and noticed an 'error'.

In the Splat Book Changes post, Skassik (the Fire Temple's Salamander Blackguard) has a suggested change to his feats(change Sunder to Pyro).
Though I like the Pyro idea, he needs Sunder as a prerequisite for Blackguard levels. There's probably another feat he could trade for Pyro (but I don't have his stats handy to suggest which he should drop).

Thanks, Grumgarr! I'll check on that later. If anything, he might have an "innate" (monster) feat that could be swapped, should the DM choose.

Skassik errata
{...to finish my pass through the rest tomorrow...}

Yeah, and here we are a week later. RL smacked me down this past week. But I'm on a week's vacation next week, so I really should get through it finally! :) Here's something to chew on from the other night in the meantime. It really needs to be double checked by someone, although I've tried to include my logic...

Skassik has some problems and the current errata doesn't quite fix him up all the way. Here's my suggestion:

p. 73 (C115) -- Skassik is missing Alertness, a base salamander feat, and is lacking Power Attack as a prerequisite for both Cleave and Sunder. He also doesn't currently satisfy the blackguard prerequisite of 2 ranks in Knowledge(religion) (he has 1), doesn't seem to have spent about 6 skill points, and didn't get his stat increase for having 4 levels of classes. The stat increase is easy to fix by bumping his Str up to 15 since it won't change anything else.

Next, let's fix his skill problem. With his 70 base salamander skill points spent the same as a default creature (10 ranks in each base skill; keep in mind he didn't take Alertness) and his armor check penalty of -7, all his skill modifiers match the text except that Hide is +4, Move Silently is +4, and he has no ranks in Knowledge (religion) at this point. Taking one level of fighter gives him 4 skill points, which he needs to dump into Knowledge (religion) so he qualifies for blackguard, giving him 2 ranks and a total skill mod of +4 with his Int bonus. Next, the 3 levels of blackguard give him (2+2) x 3 = 12 skill points. He spends 2 of those points to boost Hide up one point to +5, 8 points to boost Move Silently up four points to +8, and is left with 4 to spend. Suggestion: Intimidate 4+2 (Cha) = +6. Adding Alertness brings his Spot and Listen to +14.

Finally, Power Attack could be substituted for Weapon Focus. In this case, his attacks by his sword drop to +14/+9/+4.

Alternatively, he could also be advanced one HD in salamander to give him an extra feat (8 HD) before he takes the class levels. This changes a number of things:

CR 10; HD 8d8+8 plus 1d10+1 plus 3d10+3; hp 74; Atk +16/+11/+6 (greatsword), +14 (tail slap); Fort +14, Ref +10, Will +11. Skills & Feats: add 10 points worth of skills worth (salamander skills are class buy); add Power Attack.

Advancement skill suggestion: Add one to every salamander class skill (maxing them out at 11 ranks for 8 HD) and dump 3 points into Knowledge (religion). Ftr 1 adds one point to that giving 2 ranks total and then dumps its remaining 3 points into Jump. Blackguard distribution is the same as above: 2 into Hide, 8 into Move Silently, 4 into Intimidate. Final tally: Craft (metalworking) +17, Escape Artist +5, Hide +6, Intimidate +6, Jump -2, Knowledge (religion) +4, Listen +15, Move Silently +9, Search +13, Spot +15.

E^2: CRM G-J
Map G:

Firre Oranac (C119) doesn't have the demonstone bonus added to his skills. This should be explicitly noted in the intro to his correction or in his stat block.

Map I:

Extremely minor edit...

p. 87 (C161): "Damage for the other glyphs should be 2d8, not 5d8 and 4d8, as Fesad is only a lvl 5 cleric."

p. 87 (C161) -- Fesad's skills are fine in the text. Combat Casting isn't usually included in the Concentration modifier because it's conditional. She has 10 points for Clr 5 (2 x 5) and has 6 ranks in Concentration, 1 in Heal, and 3 in Knowledge (religion). I believe she is one feat short though. Suggested c&p:

----

p. 87 (C161) -- Fesad needs animal messenger per her tactics; suggest replacing sound burst.

She is also missing her second class feat. Suggestion: Brew Potion.

----

pg. 88 (C162) -- Bugbear Scouts. Under core 3.0 rules (non-Savage Species), these guys shouldn't get an extra stat point for their 4th HD. They do appear to have too many skill points. However, their skills mods are suspiciously close to Fesad who has a magic shield, negating her armor check penalty that normally equipped bugbears have. The current errata suggestion is good, but one could also solve the problem by just giving them masterwork shields instead. Then the skill mods listed in the text are right (and they have added 1 rank in Knowledge (religion), 3 in Listen, 2 in Move Silently, and 3 in Spot through Rog 1). The other errata comments look good. Suggested addition (after stat advance removal):

----

Or, upgrade their small wooden shields to masterwork, which makes their skill modifiers match the text.

----

pg. 88 (C164) -- Urolax's feats look fine to me in the text. I don't think one needs to be taken away. Alertness comes from bugbear, and she gets 5 from Ftr 4 (2 leveling, 3 figher bonus). Also, I get Jump +4 (6 ranks, +4 Str, -6 armor), not +3 in the errata for the skill recalculation.

Map J:

p. 92 (C187) -- There's a tiny error in Kelashein's skill recalc. Dropping the rank of Heal only makes her 14 points over. So, she can be left with 1 rank in Hide, putting it at -5.

p. 92 (C188 ) -- Nilbool had an errata in an earlier version that he had one too many feats (with the suggestion to drop Iron Will). That doesn't seem to be in the current version anymore. I think it's still valid, though. He has Alertness and Great Fortitude from racial, Scribe Scroll and Create Wand from Wiz 5, and 3 from leveling, but has 4 extras listed.

p. 94 (C194) -- A minor comment about the CR of the advanced skum... per the MM errata, tripling the HD adds 4 to the CR, so CR 6 before any adjustments for the spells.

p. 96 (C196) -- Urlurg seems to have been reduced a feat from a previous version of the errata. I agree with the previous version that says he's missing two feats. Alertness and Great Fortitude come from racial, Deflect Arrows and Improved Trip from monk, and he gets 3 for leveling. He only has Dodge listed. The previous errata had this suggestion: Weapon focus (unarmed attack) and Improved initiative.

p. 96 (C197) -- The kuo-toa fighter Swim +2 is right in the text. They have no ranks in Swim (2 Ftr points are in cross-class Listen adding the +1 over racial, 1 is not used or hidden somewhere); rather, the +8 racial is reduced to +2 total by their gear, which is roughly 28 lb, or about a -6 check penalty.

Re: E^2: CRM G-J
"RL smacked me down this past week."
I know how you feel. Hope things are going better for you.

I'm not gonna check skill points, as they are way too confusing. ;)

Skassik - raising his base HD to 8 (my suggestion also, see page 4), does not raise his CR to 10.

Fesad - she is not missing any feats. She gets Alertness as a bugbear, then one more at 3rd level cleric (6HD). She would get a third feat at 9HD (or 6th level cleric). By "class feat" I assume you are referring to class levels, but that is not the way feats are calculated for monsters, per the monster manual.

Bugbear Scouts - "Under core 3.0 rules (non-Savage Species), these guys shouldn't get an extra stat point for their 4th HD." How do you figure? By my reading of the monster manual, they get a stat increase at 4HD, which is a bugbear (3HD) rogue 1.

Urolax - Same reasoning as above. She gets alertness (bugbear), plus 3 fighter bonus feats (1st, 2nd, 4th levels), plus one character level feat (6HD, at 3rd fighter level).

Nilbool - I agree. Dunno what I was thinking, sorry. I suppose I can't count up to 7. I think the original suggestion was to remove Dodge (as inexplicably I have crossed out in my copy).

Skum - good catch!

Urlurg - He gets only 2 from level (1 at 3HD, monk 1, and one at 6HD, monk 4). He never reaches 9HD (monk 7). He does not get a feat at 1st, 3rd, and 6th monk levels, as a human would.

Kuo-toa fighter - good catch about the weight penalty on swim checks. I forgot that.

Re: Skassik errata
I'm entering everything from the last threads now in the errata - otherwise I'll lose touch. Is everyone in agreement with Urlurg not getting any feats. To me, at work, without my books, it looks as if Inf2K has the long end of the stick.

So, all errata and E^2 from Zan's "Skassik errata" onwards are entered as of now.

Re: Skassik errata
Steeran in CRM I: Bugbear wiz 5, right? I think she might be missing a feat. She's got Alertness (from bugbear base), and 8HD total (3 from Bugbear, 5 from Wizard). At 4HD per feat gained for monsters, she should have three feats, PLUS her Wizard bonus feat at level 5 (obviously not Spell Focus). Even if you go by character level, she should have at least one more feat than she does.

I'd suggest Craft Wand has her Wiz feat...she's got higher level wands than your average mooks, so it probably makes sense that she made them herself. IF she does in fact get another feat, improved Init might be a good choice.

Thoughts?

Re: Skassik errata
Great! Thanks for the extra checks. I must have been low on caffeine or something when recalculating the feats and stat bumps for monster characters. I think I was remembering that it just wasn't like SS, which I've been digesting recently and didn't look it up closely enough. I re-read the MM text and agree with I2K's revisions to my E^2.

Firre Oranac: Siob, the text in the errata about the demonstone isn't quite right. That stat block does include the bonus, but with his skills not listed explicitly there, I was suggesting to warn the reader. I guess the best thing to do is just list them explicitly with the bonus added. Here is a c&p for you:

----
Skills: Climb +3, Concentration +7, Hide +2, Knowledge (religion) +4, Listen +6
----

Then I think you can safely say that the stone's bonuses are included properly in the revised stat block.

Skassik: Yes, CR is still 9. I accidentally gave the advancement equal weight with a character level.

Siob: one minor edit in my previous text for him. Change "and didn't get his stat increase for having 4 levels of classes" to "and didn't get his stat increase when gaining 8th character level." in the first paragraph. Then add this remark after the "Alternatively, ..." sentence: "His stat increase noted above moves from 8th to 12th character level, but still can bump Str to 15."

Skum: Yes, it was nice to keep the most revised errata from becoming too stagnant. ;)

{Steeran in CRM I: Bugbear wiz 5, right? I think she might be missing a feat.}

Yup, I glossed over that one. You're right. But the +1/4 EHD for humanoid only applies to her bugbear HD. The Wiz levels follow the feat track in the PHB (where her CL = 3 HD + Wiz level) She has Alertness from bugbear, gets a character feat at Wiz 3 (CL 6 -- Spell Focus), and the Wiz 5 bonus one. Craft Wand sounds like a good one. Also Scribe is not listed. Final list: Alertness, Craft Wand, Scribe Scroll, Spell Focus (Evocation)

Argh... sorry some of my corrections above are so unclear. I should have done more c&p for you, Siob. Sorry. The skills for Claaginred (Map E) should be:

Skills : Hide +6*, Listen +5, Spot +5.

There's no way you could have possibly gotten that right from what I wrote above since I had the pre-adv skill listed on my notes here! Sorry!

Wormspike (a large giant) should have large (not huge) hide armor, right? Armor is the size category of the wearer, I thought. His weapons can be huge (one size category larger).
