Ley Lines, Power Nexuses, and the Fanes
I recently got the book Heros of High Favor: Elves from Bad Axe Games. One of the sections is a treatment of Power Nexuses and Ley Lines. Essentially, the Power Nexuses are centers of magical energy, and ley lines are currents of energy that connect them. Spellcasters can tap into them to enhance their magics. The Ley lines rules are available as a free download from the Bad Axe website

www.badaxegames.com/mm/pd..._lines.pdf

I was thinking of making the Spire in the center of the Inner Fane a Power Nexus, with the following modifications

- The level is 20, with the range doubled. This would cover the entire Inner and Outer Fane.
- The presence of the DoomDreamers prevent any Remote Casting
- To use this, one must have eaten of the fruit of Tharizdun. (to give a bonus to those who keep original characters and found the black fruit in the moathouse)

For those too lazy to read the rules, this will allow the characters to do such things as cast a level higher or get 'free' metamagic.

This may seriously beef up the opposition, but there are a few balancing factors. It takes a standard action to anchor to the Power Nexus. The character cannot move and remain anchored, unless they make a concentration check.

I feel this will really give the Fanes a feel that they are brimming with energy. What does the Hivemind think?

PS - Bad Axe's books are rather good IMHO. Especially if you like crunch rather than fluff. They are smaller sized, but affordable at $10 a piece. I'm not affiliated with them, except as a fan. :)

Sounds like a solid enough idea to me. Also remember that, in order to move and remain anchored, that is *all* you can do (it's a standard action to remain anchored when you take a move).

I'm also tempted to add a couple others...most notably, the obelisk under the Moathouse (L10, same condition) and Jaroo's Grove (L3, Druidic caster).

"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Good stuff, I'm glad you decided to post over here (after seeing the idea on the EnBoards).

Would the Temple itself have a power nexus? Perhaps on the alter?
