Imix attacks Hommlet
IMC, the characters made several hit-and-run attacks via teleport. They caught a couple of the doomdreamers by surprise in the Recovered Temple, and did some more damage besides.

Thrommel and the two assassins from the Fane were sent to destroy the party, but careful preparation (alarm spells, watchful familiars, etc.) thwarted them.

I decided to have the second summon Imix to the Recovered Temple, along with the efreet, fire elementals, giants, and a pyrohydra. They were then set loose to destroy the party (and Hommlet as well). The party's sorcerer noticed when the creatures were unleashed via clairvoyance, and warned the town. The powerful NPC's in town organized an evacuation, while the party went to meet the threat head-on (with much preparation).

Two characters are level 12 (cleric, sorcerer) and two are level 11 (monk and ranger/rogue). It looks like a TPK is coming.

Am I being too mean? Any thoughts?

Imix outside of the Temple
I don't think the doomdreamers would risk losing Imix like that. He's far too important for their plans. Maybe they can raise an army of some kind, but for the most part they want to stay quiet, lest the Forces of Good(tm) rally and give them the smackdown (again).

Assasins are probalby their best bet, anything larger will get noticed by Verbonoc and friends.

I have to agree with Kenmis...
Unless you have the other elemental Princes lined up, I don't see the Triad ever taking that kind of risk with Imix. They're insane, not crazy... if you know what I mean. :)

I've been cherry-picking cool monsters from the CRM to have Hedrack throw against the party in Rastor, etc. Just yesterday, they survived an attack by Thrommel and Chymon, supported by a bunch of ogres and the Gray Render from the mines. Thrommel summoned a pack of wolves to terrorize the Rastorians, while Chymon laid waste to the PCs and various buildings with a dose of fire breath or two. Although I had the attackers withdraw w/o killing the party, my players are smart enough to recognize the warning -- they know that they could have had their butts kicked.

IMHO, that's the strategy I think you want to go for. Imix is a lovely choice for whacking things, but you have a lot of other tools sitting in your toolbox before you'd have to go to that place. As always, your mileage may vary.

Oh, did I fail to mention...
The party destroyed the silver horn and the great altar.

Summoning the other princes will take a long time.

Lareth remains in the Fire Node.

Hmm
The Triad would prefer to send Hedrack to Hommlet than Imix. Not necessarily because they favor Imix over Hedrack, it just so much that Hedrack can blend in with people of Hommlet. All he can do is come as an adventurer and more importantly, if PC haven't met him. He can come as a sage and deliberately destroy them on his own term. Even worse, they can send Thrommel and spread vampirism in the town of Hommlet. Thus, it can become excellent side adventurer.

I've gotta do a Me Too on this one: If you send Imix to Hommlet, you'll have Mordenkainen, Elminster, whoever there within a day. He's on par with a demon prince and his presence will be dealt with.

I think that DeafDM's idea of sending Hedrack would be a good one - provided your campaign history does not include Y'Dey et al fighting him 15 years ago.

Hedrack, Imix, etc.
The campaign does include Y'dey vs. Hedrack...

Anyhoo, I think you are all right. I'll change the "Imix" that has been unleashed to simply be an elder fire elemental with a humanoid shape and a big sword.

Re: Hedrack, Imix, etc.
If that doesn't work and you DO sent Hedrack, who cares if Y'Day knows who he is. He'll just kill her too. Or if you want him to be somewhat sneaky and just "occupy" your people for a (little bit) longer, have him toss a few Chaos Beasts into downtown Hommlet. He can have them for 14 rounds and they'll cause a lot of trouble. He could then tear up half the Village with a bebelith....

All that without getting scratched, and he could then set up shop at the Moathouse. Whoever you've got left from CRM could hole up there as well, and with a base of operations, they could attack every day. They could also kidnap people from Hommlet and then kill & animate them at the Moathouse. They'll be there every time your gang comes back to stop Hedrack & his madness!

Yup
This will be a WHOLE new ballgame for Hedrack and PCs party involved. The chance is that Hedrack will have the upperhand in the situation. Hedrack is a mad genius, and he will always be one step ahead of someone. Now my only question is.. who will escort him to Hommlet? That will be interesting since Varachan will be left behind to be in charge and even done more to sabotage Hedrack's plans! Of course, Hedrack and PCs do not know that, and all they know is that Hedrack is causing EVEN more ruckus and destruction in the name of Big T.

I'm pretty sure that Hedrack have some kind of social skills. I'm pretty sure about that

Personnally, I'd have the temple just hire some tough evil or neutral NPC party to wipe em out (their GUARDs possessions are masterwork for gosh sakes!). They seem to have plenty of cash on hand.

Re: Rivals
A lot of people are talking about the Triad's wishes, or Lareth's, or the Doomdreamers as a whole.

What about Imix?

Has anyone considered that Imix might leave the Old Temple and go to Hommlet out of the sheer desire to cause mischief and destruction? He hasn't been to the Prime in ages, and with so many things to set fire too....

If you want to scale it back a bit, set a forest fire in the Gnarly. It'll send up signals, but not as drastic as Imix in downtown Hommlet.

Hmm
Starting with Rastor will be excellent start for Imix. Rastor is a small, pathetic town that need to be wipe out. Imix will happy fulfill that bill for everyone else outside of Rastor. I mean, he need to pratice with his swordmanship, and that is where Rastor come alone! Whap Whap Whap Whap Whap Whap!

IMIX
I gave Imix the ability to return to the Fire Node 1/day, like a word of recall effect.

This allows him to make a destructive foray, then disappear.

As far as heroes from Verbobonc and everywhere descending upon Hommlet: there are lots of world-saving things going on all over the place, and only so many heroes to go around.

Also, nothing prevents characters from specifically going to Verbobonc to find allies in the standard campaign.
