Earth Temple book
Just looking for a handout for the book that is in the Troglodyte Living Quarters (234) in the Earth Temple but I can't find one. The book is written in dark Draconic (whatever that is) and regards the worship of the Elder Elemental Eye and a fair bit of history regarding the Temple of Elemental Evil. Does anyone know where there could be a handout for this or have any ideas what might be in the book?

I think that Thrommel put something up at his site.

Re: Earth Temple book
Thanks, Sio. Went there once and must have missed it. However, now I have a question for Thrommel, if he's willing to talk. I assume the Elder Elemental Eye Rant is part of the book in the Trogs Living Quarters. It refers to a "man-child" and to singing "father! father! father!" in a section that seems to refer to the Champion. This doesn't sound like it is referring to Lareth, in which case I would have to change the wording a little. I don't mind changing it but would like to know for sure before I do so. So...is this Lareth or not?

Re: Earth Temple book
I assume this is the portion you are referring to:Quote: The hour is nearing as the prophecy unfolds and we toil, ever harder, ever faster. Soon the seekers shall find the man-child. Soon the four moons shall orbit the son and join together their voices in a beautiful chorus, singing father! father! father! Drums shall beat. Their painful cry will rend the heavens and then it will not be stopped it cannot be stopped it must not be stopped for we are so close we have worked so hard prayed so hard and planned and suffered and sweated and died and now our reward is so near we can taste the sweet scent of victory when the all powerful might of the elder elemental eye comes forth again to bathe us in his glory and smite the traitorous infidels crush them crack and destroy them with the cruel truth of the hollow fragility of their ill-spent lives.
Wow. That is pretty wacked.
Yeah, you're right, it doesn't directly reference Lareth. IMC, the champion was the child from the "Cradle of Madness" adventure in Dungeon. I gave the kid a weird growth spurt where he went from infant to like age 10 in six months. As the unholy progeny of Tharizdun, he had this weird 'adult' otherworldly intelligence to him.
And he was totally evil.
Now, that being the case, there's no reason you can't make it a reference to Lareth. (Who says Lareth isn't the unholy progeny of Tharizdun?) And maybe once Lareth is tested and proven the Champion of Elemental Evil, he begins getting younger and younger, until...
Personally, I sometimes throw out little mysteries that I don't personally know the answer to and I let my players do the work of figuring out what it all means. (A really good trick if you don't go with the very first thing they suggest.)
People look for patterns, that's the first law of social engineering. Why not make your players do your work for you?

Re: Earth Temple book
THANK YOU THROMMEL!!!
For the advice and the handout. I will let you know what they think of the book. "Let the PCs do the work." Have to remember that for future reference. Also, I will keep in mind the idea of Lareth getting younger. I like it but I don't yet know if I will use it.
Also had a thought for anyone else since I probably won't use it myself. Big T wants to destroy everything, right? Isn't that entropy? I'm not a sciencetific minded person but doesn't entropy break things down? Perhaps Lareth ages a few years upon becoming the Champion.
