ToEE book by Thomas Reid
Has anyone had any problems or situations arise with players who have read Thomas M. Reid's book version of "The Temple of Elemental Evil"? I haven't had the time to read it yet, so I'm wondering what others' opinions are on the subject.

Shouldn't be a big problem. The book is different enough from the original ToEE modules, and definitely from RttToEE that it won't make a huge difference. If anything, it'll give them a sense of "I've heard about that" when the encounter certain people and certain places.

Re: ToEE book by Thomas Reid
I read the book prior to starting the adventure, and was amazed at how different the plot ran from both "canon" and the text of the adventure(s). I second Chartam's comment that it might even add an element of otherwise-missed history cues (Lareth, Hedrack, Zuggtmoy, Iuz, etc.) for those players who didn't play the original. However, unless you plan on heavily modifying the plot of RTTTOEE, I wouldn't present it to your players as an "official" history.

Yeah, I was thinking that I'd try and throw in a few tie-ins to the book if I could. My group has already learned some history from Hommlet NPCs (each with their own particular spin, of course!), so if nothing else the book might help me fill in a few details.
