Just to say thank you...
Ok, I don't know for sure the proper ettiquette around these parts, but I didn't think it would hurt too much to say hello. I just recently found this site by pure dumb luck, and the content I was treated to made my jaw drop! I never knew there was so much out there to help me through the daunting task given to the DM! And so much just dedicated to this one book? WOW!

The Temple of Elemental Evil was my first D&D game. We must've tried to get through that module at least 7 times, and we actually got somewhere about 3. But it was fun, it was the beginning, and looking back, it always was very nostalgic.

Now, on the eve of my group's little renewel of our gaming tradition, I found the Return. I was insane with glee! We could do it again! And, knowing that there probably wasn't much time in my life for gaming in the future, what better way to bow out than to come back to the beginning!?! I have now vowed to make this the crown jewel of my DM tenure! I have spiral notebooks just itching for notes, post it's up the wazoo, and a drive that scares me sometimes.

Well, that's about all I wanted to get off my chest. I am not much of a poster, I tend to lurk and just read every scrap I can get my grubby little fingers on. And there is alot to sift through round here. And it always helps to know that if I really do get stuck somewhere, I have a place to come for help.

Right now, our group is being led by another DM, who is basically just getting the players up to a point where I can take over and really get started. If there is any advice you feel is necessary, maybe a thought you had in retrospect that you wish you had thought of from the beginning, feel free to share it. If not, you can bet your ass that this is the most usefull site I have found in a long time, and there is no way to express to you my gratitude for everything it contains.

Still here? Wow.

I've never seen it's like before, nor since (save for the Banewarrens, one forum down from this one). Having a forum dedicated to strictly one module, where everyone here is on common's nothing short of wonderful.

My only advice and request is...don't lurk. Let your opinion be known, even if it's just a "me too" on something. If you're not an experienced DM yet, you *will* be before this adventure is through, and like every DM you've some unique insights into the adventure.

You say you played ToEE multiple times? Any of those old players still around and part of the new group? I, for one, would love to hear about how much of the old material is "picked up on" by a group that's played ToEE in the past.

The community here will only keep going so long as there's people around to keep on sharing. I strongly encourage you to not worry about saying the wrong thing the wrong way, just jump in with both feet and let us know what you're thinking.

"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

I have to admit I have only DMed two other campaigns besides this one and the detail and all of the stuff that is in this module has made me look back at my first two campaigns. I really can see the importance of a good flowing story within a campaign. My first two I just made up and there was a lot to them but I look back at them and they didn't have as much substance as this module does. I think this module is already helping me to become a better DM, and my group is only in the CRM.

Still here? Wow.

Andorax, it strikes me that I can actually answer part of your question. Two of my players not only played, but DM'ed Temple. When I mentioned the name of Hedrack for the first time, one of them looked puzzled then his face kinda lit up. The other smiled quietly, but nothing more.

If they remember anythihng, I doubt that it'll be before the Recovered Temple. Throughout Hommlet, there was no reaction from the players, and the moathouse certainly rang no bells.

My bigest question is when to introduce the true story behind the Temple. I'd certainly appreciate any ideas :D

Siobharek is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
