The DM screwed Up - Comments please
Our party last adventure!

"Rakshasa Lair" ... we met the two rakshasas on form of two Canoness Y'dey clerics, just after the fight with the ogres and the golems.

Well ... we told they to go, and of course, it didn't happened. After few minutes of discussion, we understood that they would, wherever, join us. As a good paladin, I made they don the ogre's magic armor (+1 Half Plates, as I remember) - VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL.

When we was at the middle of the corridor that leads to the Greater Temple, we met FOUR fireballs, coming from the back. The DM added two Potions of Haste on their possession.

Now comes the first explanation about the subject: I told they to don the armors ... they didn't removed, so ... Arcane Spell Failure! (that so many times caused me to lose spells) I saw on the DM's face that he was desappointed about this, that would ruin all his plans for the night.

And we started a discussion (players against the DM). He told us that they removed the armors without our perception! Then I said that this would be impossible: I was really worried about they ... remove a armor is not easy ... you cannot do it walking ... and a lot of other factors!
But he was accepting nothing! And, the result was that one removed the armor, and the other didn't (don't ask me why). He lost one of the 4 fireballs.

The damage rolled killed our Cleric/Barbarian (we were four: Pal4/Sor10 (me), a Rogue7/Wiz1/ShadowDancer6, and a Wiz5/ElementalSavant8) .
The wizard turned incorporeal, and flew out; as did the Rogue. I, trying to escape from the next two coming fireballs, got the other side, going right to the Greater Temple.

Didn't worked; the DM exploded, and I still survived, with about 20 hit points. Then, kind of surprised with my reluctancy on surviving, he added a Disintegrate on Susain's Spell List... I survived again, but the 5d6 killed me (-1 HP).

If I survived that round, I would read scroll of Antimagic Field, get back on corridor and inside one room, recovered with some potions.

Well, I would do a lot of other things... but the DM's plan where others....

What do you say?!

A) You shouldn't be here as you aren't a DM. There are spoilers and you are ruining the story.
B) The DM is always right
C) See B

DM's Only!
bloodyhellman is right. You need to get outta here before the adventure is further ruined for you. :)

And don't look for a message board full of DM's to turn on another DM. (at least, not in front of the players).

DM's Only!
You two ...

I'll not ruin the adventure ... the DM did!;)

The thing about "the DM is always right" is very stupid; he changed the adventure just to kill a character (added potions, the disintegrate, the check penalty ...) just to start a new campaing!!!

The players were enjoying the Return to the Temple, and now we will not finish it! We had a deal: two more deaths, no more playing the campaing ....

Well, don't you worry! I can see everything now, even the book (from where I checked the things I told) ... no adventure anymore!!! ;)

Re: DM's Only!
Devoto,

First, I have to agree with the others above, this forum is designed for DM's only.

If you feel the DM screwed you (which from what I could understand, it sounds like he did) their are plenty of other forums that I think would be better to try and get some construtive ideas from.

As for the DM is always right, thats just not true. DM's are human and do make mistakes, but they are suppose to be mature enough to see that and correct it.

Other Posters - As I said above to Deveto you are right this forum is for DM's only but you could have been a liitle more understanding of this persons issues with a game that is very important to all of us. (otherwise we wouldn't be here)

Thanks

JDragon

DM's ruining adventures
Ahh, i didn't understand that part of the whole situation.

Basicly, this isn't really a problem for this board, though. Your DM didn't want to run that game anymore, and so he killed it. I certainly don't agree with HOW he did it, and if i were you i'd seriously reconsider gaming with him ever again, but there's not really much we can do for you here.

My suggestion is find a different gaming group. :)

Dude,
I was kidding, that's what the face means. But seriously as I DM I could justify easy what he did with magic like illusions but he is obviously a killer DM. Really though, this thread does not belong here my friend as you don't, Player! :p

Re: DM's Only!
Little perspective here folks...he's not a "player" anymore. No more campaign. DM threw a temper tantrum because he couldn't simply and maturely say "I'm tired of running this adventure...let's pack it up for a while".

Beyond that, all I can really do is answer to your questions within the context of the adventure. So far as I recall, there aren't any Rakshasa in this adventure at all, so the DM pulled it completely out of nowhere for the sole purpose of shutting you down. Like I said...temper tantrum. He could just as easily have just dropped a mountain on you out of nowhere, and it would have been just as tasteless.

"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

There are 2 rakshasa in the Recovered Temple. Shame to get so far and not finish it, really.

If I was you, Devoto, I'd be mad as hell. To be so close to the end and then...pfft!! The DM is always right, however that only applies if he is being fair and reasonable. I would have a nice, long discussion with your DM before telling him that you'll never play in one of his games again. Find another group, man. Maybe you could even run your own RttToEE game. Whatever happens, good gaming!!

Re: DM's Only!
Yup, from the way it's described, the DM got bored and wanted to end the game. He tried to murder the party and bungled it. After a similar experience once, I refused to play in anything done by that DM again. I didn't talk to him afterwards about his reasons, but I wish I had.

Talk to him, and unless you really like his games, find a new DM.
