an evil party
The party that I'm going to be leading through the temple is evil. The party also consists of two drow and a tiefling. :eek

Now I know that the drow were somewhat involved in the last temple incident, and that they might not be well liked within the city. As for the tiefling, they're basically half demon. His demonic traits aren't that observable right away, but still...

I was just wondering what you guys thought about how people would react to the drow and tiefling. The other member is a human so no trouble there, and the party has basically decided that the human will any of the diplomatic things.

Thanks.

Re: an evil party
My PCs are mostly evil too and thus far it hasn't been a problem. But mine are humans; yours are very obviously evil by race (or everyone will assume so anyhow). How will towns react to drow? They'd break out the torches and pitchforks and lynch em (unless your world is customized). This is a tough adventure and most groups need help from NPCs, your PCs should expect none. In fact, some of the forces like the ex adventurer could very well attack them if they try entering the towns or hear they are around. You could circumvent this with spells or some hefty disguise abilities but I am guessing both are unworkable.

I won't let any of my PC's be a race like them unless they all are. Why? Cause you need to break up the party too much, the humans and demihumans go to town to do all the politicking and socializing while the monster types encamp out of town. This is not only a pain in the butt but also terribly limiting on what storylines the DM can come up with (so much for city adventures).

Yes, I've given this a lot of thought as my PCs went through a phase of wanting to be drows, hobgoblins etc. After using one such character most realize there isn't a lot of character identification with drow or whatever, get tired of being alienated and settle into a regular type.

Re: an evil party
I was thinking something along the lines of the party being approached by Elmo and saying something along the lines of him not wanting any trouble in the town and that they should leave. If the party does overwell in some kind of diplomacy check they can stay as long as they do something for Elmo. Maybe check out the moathouse for him, or the old temple.
just a thought.

That's a workable way of handling it. You should also stress to the characters that they should know how most humans will react to them so they are prepared for hostility. Remember that Drow are boogymen in status on most campaign worlds. They would have to calm hostility and fear with every turn (diplomacy checks with everyone met).

Re: an evil party
Im curently DMing a evil party as well.

Their is one thing I will advise to you,"stupid evil should be punished."

what im saying is if your party starts stealing every thing in site from all the towns people,or up and killing who ever,or doing things a town wouldnt put up with.
Have a linch mob show up and hang them all,or the guilty one at least.

The funny thing about my evil group is that when some one screws up and some one comes for them they will go get the persone and say"here you go,he did it".
they love eachother so much..

Im curently haveing probles with the fact that they are trying to rebuild Nulb and youe it for their own base.
Im bleading them dry as much as posible to get things rebuilt.
But im also comsidering the Doomdreamers showing up one night and burning down whats their at this time.

Aslo if your having trouble with them in a town,I made a little bandit camp in the mountians that they started from and they some times go back to,this way I dont have to worry about them going into the other towns and causing to much unneded headaches for me.
