Outer Fane Reaction Times
My party is finaly moving into the outer fane.
Bard 8/Arcane Archer 3
Pal 5/sor 1/Hunter of the dead 4
Cleric 9
Rogue 8
Now, my question is, just how coordinated is the outer fane. I know it's supposed to be very tight, but i'm wondering about reaction times when someone breaches one of the doors.
If the party assaults the Earth door, will Chymon come and help? If you have a key, do the spider eaters and stuff even bother you? I'm just not sure how this session is going to work.
Thanks in advance,
Kenmis

Re: Outer Fane Reaction Times
Chymon won't move.
Reactions will be from guards, from the drow, and from Hedrack who'll send off Naquent, maybe Thrommel if the PCs are perceived as a great risk. Assume that combat is heard 100 ft. away, then compute movement from any relevant forces as well as any time spent boosting themselves (I don't see any spell caster arriving les that 6 rounds after a disturbance).
Unles you wish it otherwise, the spider eater riders won't bother anyone with keys. But if the party's paladin of Pholtus is brandishing is Holy Avenger singing "Oh Blinding Light", then the 'riders might get curious.

Spider Eaters
So if i get this right, the party can just walk right up to a door and open it, assuming they have the key? It's only THEN that the guardian inside that door will fight them. From there, it's anybody within 100 feet, and a chain of reactions.
Also, the lighting towers do NOT attack anyone ON the bridge, right?

Re: Spider Eaters
I'd say so, yes. Consensus is that the towers are there for aerial invaders. If someone ends up banging its head against a door, the Riders will notice and take action, as they will if battle spills out onto the bridge.
So if your group goes up against Chymon and a gout of flame spills out on the bridge, then your PCs might very well be cut off from easy retreat.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the riders and sorcerers might just have a good laugh about someone not being able to enter. I'm sure the temples play tricks on people like that. As for Chymon, the tower employees probably do the same thing the ogres do, which is nothing unless they see Chymon obviously losing.
