Am I imagining this stuff up?
I could have sworn that a Dungeon or Dragon magazine had another node for RoTEE to add another challange before the fire node. However, when I looked through my back issues all I could find were some articles about Elemental Evil monsters, an unrelated adventure about Tharizdun, and the web extra that put another area into the mines. Am I just confusing this with the original adventure or something?

Thanks,

There was a web-enhancement called Caves on Ancient Secrets. which can be found at:

Speaking of which, I haven't read many comments by people who have used the Web enhancement. I haven't read it yet myself. Is it worthwhile to add?

"They were immediately and absolutely recognizable as adventurers. They were hardy and dangerous, lawless, stripped of allegiance or morality, living off their wits, stealing and killing, hiring themselves out to whoever and whatever came... They were scum who died violent deaths, hanging on to a certain cachet among the impressionable through their undeniable bravery and their occasionally impressive exploits" China Mieville, Perdido Street Station

I gave it a long, hard look and decided not to. There's already so much in the Mines that another encounter area - interesting and challenging though it may be - would disappear among all the others. To be perfectly honest, any additional material should, IMHO, focus on relations to the outside world. Maybe the cult has a small chapter in a nearby city where they do their best to conceal CRM activities. That would give some roleplaying challenges as well as strengthen the players' perception of the campaign world.

Signifying nothing.

I will use it
I read it through and found it interesting. I am going to add it to my campaign. My party just arrived in Rastor so they shouldnt reach that area for another month. When they do I will be happy to share any info....

Re: didn't go for the Web Enhancement
I read it through and thought it was interesting enough, but not vastly challenging for my party by the time they got there...
plus they were getting a bit ahead power-wise and I didn't want to hand them more XP for little effort, so I steered them away (in character, as a captured...Nilbool?).
If they went there (unlikely now), they'd find it as written (cos I'm lazy).
Also the aboleth element loses its hook if you choose (as I have, bwa-ha) to go with Andorax's Grell-Second - d'oh!, make that Thrommel's Grell-Second (thnx Andorax).

Can't say I've heard of any other node write-ups, though the maps of the nodes are available on the Yahoo site, I believe.
You'd still have to populate any other nodes yourself, though.

Wish I could take credit for that one...but that was Thrommel's Grell Second (I think), not mine. The complaint was that the Aboleth's powers were largely illusionary, and that most of his party was functionally immune to illusions.

"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Re: Try the original T4 module
You can get the original AD&D T4 Temple of Elemental Evil ESD for maps of all of the nodes as they were in that adventure - the layout of the Fire Node matches that exactly (although you CAN see the difference that 20 odd years of development in desktop publishing has made! :) )

Caves of ancient secrets
My party was so sick of the CRM by the time they'd taken out 3 temples we decided not to even go near the Caves of Ancient secrets.

In fact, in order to catch them up a bit level wise, i'm running them through the heart of nightfang spire right now. They're very much enjoying the drastic change of pace and scenery.
