File drop open now
With the evaporation of the Y! collection, I figured we need some new pseudo-centralized file site. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes. I'm more of a programmer, so don't expect much with fancy-looking pages, but I'll try to get something up next week or so.
For now, please drop whatever you like at this ftp location (anonymous login):
tyranena dot astro dot wisc dot edu
and put stuff in the 'incoming' directory
This is my home machine, so it's only a cable modem, but that should be good for sending stuff. The u/l speed sucks though (128k), so for now, I've disabled the ability to grab the files once they're there. You can see the names though. I hope to be moving them to the site (on a faster pipe) as they come in (once that's set up, but where I don't have the ability to set up a dropbox).
Please e-mail me a note at haffner at astro dot wisc dot edu (or use ezBoard's PM function) when you have put something there with a little description, or drop a text file with your contribution. I'm also using a new ftp server (for me) so e-mail/PM me if you have trouble with something.

I just had a thought . . .
If we'd like to have a good place for upload/download of these guys I could re-purpose my personal Hotline server. It's not blazing fast, but it would work.

You can upload files but you can no longer download the "existing" files. You'll notice that the older folders are actually not selectable.
That's the problem with "freely" hosted sites. You either gets billions of ads, crap service, or both.

This week I hope. I've only gotten a grand total of one file submitted so far, so I'm pacing myself  That being said, the upload machine is unreachable today for some reason. I'll check it out when I get home later tonight.
Honestly, I was working on Page 21 much of last week since I've been itching to get it on-line for a while now. Now that it's up, I'll try to work on the file section. I have some random things myself, but not a lot from the Y! group.

I'm slowly putting together reference sheets monsters. I'm busily trying to lift critter stats out of the Monsters SRD (the tabular ones suck, since they are not actually formatted in any usable way . . . )
I'll upload them as I finish them. I've been creating word files with the stats in tables, with a tic sheet below them for each monster of that type and the room number where they're found. Well, I'll upload them if people are interested, anyway. I find them helpful to keep battle moving.

Anything like that will be very useful, benhamtroll.
For an easier approach to getting monsters, have you checked either Lenny's site www.darktheatre.net/dnd or Thrommel's www.alba-ker.com/urodia/monstersearch_new.cfm.
Both of these are very good. I look forward to seeing the download page. Unfortunately, I don't have much I think would be useful, but I'll give it a look-see.

benhamtroll, take a look at my Monster program it will allow you to select a Monster from a database and then output a statblock. Unfortunately it needs RolePlayingMaster to work (also a free download), but it doesn't work with the current RPM. I should have a fix up within a few days.

Er, um, er... yeah! I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to see it all show up somewhere again. I didn't slurp the Y! groups as much as I wished I did, thinking it would always be there for me.
Feel free to archive it all up and slap it on upload site. I'll do the sorting legwork, if you want. Alternatively, if it's really huge and you have the ability to, you can just point me at a public or private URL (mail or PM me), I'll slurp it down without you having to wait for it.

I'm sending my stuff there now. Some of it is original, but most of it is collected from other sources (including the Yahoo group).
I haven't heard back from ronin lately, so I'm not sure when I'll be getting his stuff.
