Re: File drop open now
As a note, I will be making tiles for this adventure as my group goes through it. I will post those as I create them.

Please explain what you mean by tiles . . .

Anything that makes a Dane drool scares me.

Floor tiles, I assume. Makes me drool, too. :p

ROTFLMAO

If I was collecting quotes made in relation to me, that one would be a winner. You almost made me snort Laphroaig through my nose - something I can only imagine would be painful. :lol

Okay. Very cool. Do you have a quick way of setting up a 1" grid in Photoshop? I'm quite proficient with it, but setting up grids is just a big pain . . .

Re: File drop open now
To create a 1" grid in photoshop...

1) Open a new 1" by 1" transparent image
2) Using the line tool, draw a line across the top and right sides of the image.
3) Save the image and import it as a pattern
4) Use the pattern on any existing layer (make sure it's on top) and voila... a 1" grid. :)

I hope that helps.

Re: File drop open now
Now that's a cool trick. I taught Photoshop for almost five years, and was prepared to take my test for the Certified Expert course, but I never would have thought of this.

Thanks!

chartam,

I tried to upload 5 files to your site a couple of days ago. I thought I sent you an email asking you if I did it correctly but maybe I forgot to send it. If you dont see them let me know and I'll try again. I will also try Zans site again when I get the chance, probably this weekend.

Okay, 3ebb, are you making your tiles by scanning the maps from the book, or are you drawing them freehand? With the amount you have to blow up scans, no amount of descreening is going to make them usable . . .:(

ronin: nope, no email received. That's why I hadn't looked. Yes, they are there. Thanks. I'll email you privately to coordinate further transfers.

Re: re: file drop
Hey, ZansForCans. I've uploaded that image of the CRM I mentioned in another thread (don't recall where). Basically, I put all of the maps together, similar to the overview, in one large image and connected all the rooms, including the bridges to the Outer Fane. The ZIP file is almost 6MB and the image itself (2500x2500) is almost 18MB. Most of it looks okay, although I had to twist some of the bridges around. I have not added the effects of water or enhanced the outside of the CRM, and I have not added the black spike maps (which I plan to do).

When Zans makes it available, I'd appreciate any comments on it, especially if anyone else finds it useful.

I've scanned in the all the individual maps in high resolution (fairly high anyway, 300DPI). Each is a little over 8MB. Anyone interested in them...perhaps to make tiles? I also have the Outer Fane as a single merged image (the tiny version is a little over 2MB and the high res version is about 36MB, but isn't blended well together at the moment).

Infiniti, I would be very interested in those map files you mention, if you're willing to supply them! Just let me know how you'd prefer to distribute them and such. :D

Re: re: file drop
I'm willing to do whatever...I suppose the easiest solution is to put them on ZFC's site and then you can get them when he implements the download capability. In the meantime, if you want specific maps, just PM me and I'll return them by e-mail. Zipping them saves less than 1MB (e.g. Map A - 8.26MB, Zipped 7.75MB), so I won't zip them unless you really need it that way. Make sure you have space in your e-mail. :)

They are all .BMP's so there is no loss.

I don't have my web site up yet (it's pseudo-hosted by enom.com right now) so I have no place to put them myself.

Re: re: file drop
Infiniti...... I think I should just wait for ZFC's site to be functional. It was more curiosity to see if I could make tabletop-scale tiles, rather than an immediate need. I don't want to make you send large files and such when I could just wait a bit and download them from the file drop. Have you tried to make scale tiles yourself? If so, how did they work out?

Re: re: file drop
Well, I put up all the high resolution maps, into a folder called HighRes. I also uploaded a Word document that is a minor remake of the BotB Tainted Deck. I put in the stats for the minor death, the fighter, and enhanced the text with the actual effects of the deck (so that you do not need to look it up). I also modified one thing, that is the +3 dagger.

Are Word documents okay, in general, or should they be converted to RTF? I'd rather not use PDF because I don't have a PDF editor. :)

I have not done any tiling, never thought of it actually.

Re: re: file drop
I scan them and enlarge them to the appropriate size. I use the original as a bottom layer. I then draw new stuff right over the top, using the bottom layer as a guide. Then I delete the bottom layer and finalize it before printing. :)

3ebb -

That makes sense. Unfortunately my Photoshop skills far outstrip my art skills. That, and the CRM is so freakin' huge that I'm not sure I want to spend that much paper and toner to print out something like 50 sheets of paper per map. Maybe I'll do it for important battle sites and screw the rest.

Are you doing the CRM, or just the smaller, more manageable bits?
