Re: Suggestion
Word vs. PDF, my own 2 cp:
I strongly recommend against RTF as a general rule, unless a particular contributer feels differently. I have found the SRD documents to be far less readable and usable than they should be in this format, IMHO. I thought the HTML versions looked 10x better, even when you load the RTF into Word vs. some generic program.
I am not the most pro-M$ person on the planet, but I use Word occasionally (the PDF Errata/FAQ is done there), and it's probably the best format to use unless there are major complaints down the road.
Since I am a complete and utter Mac-head (well, with Linux a close 2nd), I have the ability to get *exact* PDF output (it's the default printing model now in OS X) for just about any format that get sent to the site. So, I could try to get into the habit of putting up a PDF version of .doc's as they come up, if none is supplied.

Re: Suggestion
My point on it is that I do not have an editor for PDF. I think many of the files, especially if people start uploading "letters" and things will need to be customized. Anyone can print out PDF files, but far fewer people can edit them. Of course, if you want to put something on the site that cannot be edited, that's another story, but all my submissions are freely modifiable.
Btw, ZFC, did that CRM overmap (2500x2500 pixels) make it okay? I wanted someone to take a look at that before I continue editing it. Is that the file that got corrupted?

Re: Suggestion
{My point on it is that I do not have an editor for PDF.}
I agree--neither do I. I was suggesting that the original .doc file go up as well as a .pdf. If the contributer wants to do that themselves, that's cool, if not, I'll try to remember to do it myself.
{Is that the file that got corrupted?}
It might be. It was labeled 'CRM.zip' and has this in it:
Archive: CRM.zip
error [CRM.zip]: missing 20206 bytes in zipfile
(attempting to process anyway)
Length Date Time Name
-------- ---- ---- ----
18750054 03-08-03 14:01 CRM.bmp
-------- -------
18750054 1 file
I didn't try extracting it, actually. I can do that when I get home tonight.

Re: Some up now...
benhamtroll - I just uploaded an update to my Monster program. It allows you to select monster(s) from a grid and then you can out put a statblock of the monsters into an HTML file. You may find it useful.

Any interest?
If there's any interest I am using DM genie (www.dmgenie.com)for this adventure and am willing to upload my data for others.
DM genie is a piece of software that I paid for (it has a 60 day free trial available) that helps automate dming. It took me a long time to add my all the creatures/NPCs from the CRM and I am working on the Fanes next.
Most interesting is the mapping application and combat managment of DMGenie. With this functionality you are able to keep track of where pcs and opponents are for every combat. I have maps of the CRM and have overlaid grids on top of them.
Currently, I bring a laptop to my sessions and where I go they supply a monitor which I plug in and the PCs use and favour this over my battlemat (less setup).
I am not trying to sell you guys anything, just offering the fruits of my labour if anyone wants it, it's only of use if you have a setup or want one like mine.

Slight change in upload directory
I've changed the name of the upload directory on the FTP site (tyranena.astro.wisc.edu) to 'rtee' instead of 'incoming'. Seems that's an obvious place for leechers to do their probing. I've gotten several obvious drops by probing apps and it's a bit annoying. They won't be able to do much since you can't grab from the site, but maybe this will drop me off the radar.
I'm working on getting a web upload page done now that I have rather unrestricted server space to work with.
Sorry this is taking so much longer than I thought. RL has really been turning the screws a bit lately!
