A matter of distance...
What is the distance form Rastor to the Main entrance of the CRM? I had a quick look last night and couldn’t find anything.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Depends on where you're going
It's about 5 miles, a little more if you go to the Main entrance. IIRC.

There was a nice map on the yahoo group, but it's gone now. :(

You can also just check the CRM overview map in the map booklet. There's an arrow there pointing NE saying "Rastor 6 miles".

6 miles... that's a negletable distance normally, but keep in mind that it's rocky, sloping terrain...

and keep track of seasons... my players are assaulting the CRM's during the winter, so there are no horses allowed to make the trip, as snow and ice make the slopes slippery... and it takes my crew twice as long to cover the distance too... :D

Re: Depends on where you're going
Someone pointed out that the mountain is pretty close. I have never been to a mountaneous region, so I don't know if 6 miles is a lot in such an area. However, the poster suggested that Rastor could have a Lovecraftian, slightly mutated feel complete with an inbred familiy and all.

But 6 miles... In some areas, I suppose it would be a day's journey (actually, according to the SRD, it's a 4-hour trek, without taking the weather into consideration), so it's not in their back yard, I think.

I walked about four hours to very close to the caldera of Pu'u O'o in Hawaii, it was forest terrain most of the way but even so I don't think I would have seen it from four hours walk away.

You can see an arial shot of the crater here:
