Taxman66, a consensus isn't necesarialy a unanimous agreement, and from my recollection of the discussion, there was very little disagreement, scarce few who said that a dimensional space insulates.

In either event, you're absolutely right that there's neither a definitive answer, nor a unanimous opinion.

I was one of those who put forth the "no insulation" argument, based on another prescident, admittedly a somewhat backhanded one.

According to the 2nd edition box adventure "The Rod of Seven Parts", the uber-lawful effects of a segment of the rod will still affect the bearer of it, even if it is in an extradimensional space.

This lends me to believe that the "drawbacks" of any artifact will affect whoever has posession of it, whether it's in a bag of holding or not.

Now, as for the "cursed" vs "artifact" argument...it's a moot point, and pure semantics.

Many artifacts have "drawbacks".

Universally, cursed items either have nothing but a drawback, or else have a useful function, for whom their drawback exceedes their benefit.

Artifacts cannot be made by conventional means. Cursed items (although few would want to) can be, and their requirements and costs are listed.

The Demonstone falls under the definintion (and is, in fact, categorized as) of a Minor Artifact. The Demonstone, by any reasonable definition, is also most decidedly a cursed item...unless someone here would argue that the drawback does not outweigh the benefit?

Either way, it's irrelevant whether it's classified as a "cursed" item or not. Remove Curse won't even make the dang thing sneeze.

I recall the arguement, it seemed to me (without counting opinions) that it was split 50-50 or close to that.
