gmk6135 Looking around (3/7/03 8:39 am) Reply	Deck of Many Things I don't know if anybody uses actual tarot cards for the Deck of Many Things, but if you want to I found one that goes well with the RtToEE campaign. The Sacred Rose Tarot (usually about $25, but I found it for $11 used on Amazon) has a real creepy feel to it. A lot of little details fit in with the game too. The Death card, for instance, has a skeleton w/ scythe wearing long purple robes. The back of each card has a four different color (red, brown, blue, white) rose theme which fits nicely with the four elements theme from the game. Most of the figures drawn have empty eyes with no pupils and one shows "...a knight looking basically like a vampire, with a grim expression and an upraised sword. The effect is actually quite terrifying. In fact, many of the humans in this deck look like vampires." There's a good review here that describes the deck. g Edited by: gmk6135 at: 3/7/03 8:41:30 am
SSShadowcat7 Here for a while (3/7/03 9:44 pm) Reply	Re: Deck of Many Things Not a complete hijack, but close. Going along with the Deck of Many Things, has anyone used this in their game yet? How has it affected things? I'm kind of scared to keep it there as it can be a huge unbalancing factor thrown in. My players are pretty close to entering the Black Spike and I need to decide soon. Any advice?

They worked pretty well and I'm not against making those characers hella powerful, as there are only two of them and they will have the most chalanging things to do later. To do it I used a d20 and since there are 22 cards, I omitted the first and last as I just didn't want them to come up. By the way those cards are the Balance (reverse alignment) and the void (lose soul.)

The drawing from the deck is risky and those two cards represent some of the risk involved. You have to be willing to risk it all to gain it all sometimes. Just my two cents though. Xel

The guy who normally DMs our group has them, but since he's playing now I can't ask him for them without tipping him off. Does anyone know if there is a place where I could find a set of these that I could print. I don't really want to pick up a set of Tarot (these ones look cool, BTW). There's no business like gnoll business

They look pretty neat, but it would be really cool if someone could tinker with them in Photoshop to give them a purple hue instead of the yellowish which they are now. That would go great with the "tainted deck" idea in the BoB...... I shall try but unfortunately my Photoshop learning process began last week so I don't think I have the required skills just yet...... I even went so far as to put on obex on the throne and on the knight. All of the images are rotated to be right side up and are .BMP files. There is a ZIP file on ZFC's site. I also included the Word document in the ZIP file for convenience. I'd be happy to modify the images if anyone has comments on them (after you have access to them). The files are large (each about 1MB and about 540x740, suitable for printing). If you want them smaller or in another format, let me know, it's easy to do. PS I use Paint Shop Pro, not Photoshop.

ZansForCans, er, when you gonna get that download capability ready? If you need them and have the e-mail capability, send me a PM with your address and I can e-mail them, let me know the limit per message, too, otherwise I can send 22 e-mails (minimum block size). If you just want the .DOC file, it's really small.
