Question for the Hivemind
My two pcs are mucking around the main gate having disguised themselves as Dunrat and Chenasi and passed Mereclar's and Terrenygit's inspections thus far. They brought Dunrat's wagon with the Moathouse artifacts with them and I am trying to decide where to go with this.
My first thought is to have Terrenygit(Clr5, Tharzidurn) recieve orders for Dunrat to look for Lareth in Nulb. I'd rather give the pc's something to run with inside the crm, instead of forcing them to either head right back out or drop their cover.
Running this tomorrow so any suggestions are welcome.
Edit: also, are there any items or spells that let you pass your alingment off as another? Everything I have found simply blocks divination.

Re: Question for the Hivemind
Brings up a good question... How would Dunrat usually go back to the Outer Fane when he returned from the CRM?
Probably go to the Air temple straight from the south entrance and receive the blessing from the greater key. Then head out to the other entrance, and head north through the earth temple to the north bridge complex and the Air gate.
I think Terrenygit would definitely know Dunrat, since they are both worshippers of the Big T. But I would think that while he may have heard Dunrat was away he didn't know the details of his mission.
So if Dunrat shows up at the main gate, I would think that Terrenygit would assume he wants to go through to the air door if everything goes perfectly (they have detect thoughts up or something). Of course they have to get to Terrenygit first. I don't think the main gate guards would know who Dunrat is, so the players may be flustered if they are asked "What do you want?" Things could go south quickly if Mereclar shows up and starts talking to them (as it says in the books they don't know anything about a mission in Hommlett and discussion of something like that only makes them more suspicious).
If somehow they do get through to Terrenygit, depending on the circumstances he was called in "Uh, yeah we want to talk to the cleric in charge here." He may not yet reach his assumption and show up asking what Dunrat wants.
I don't think anyone would necessarily be casting Detect Evil/Good on the Dunrat and Chenasi IF their disguises held up.
"They were immediately and absolutely recognizable as adventurers. They were hardy and dangerous, lawless, stripped of allegiance or morality, living off their wits, stealing and killing, hiring themselves out to whoever and whatever came... They were scum who died violent deaths, hanging on to a certain cachet among the impressionable through their undeniable bravery and their occasionally impressive exploits" China Mieville, Perdido Street Station |

Re: Question for the Hivemind
Trying to remember back to the notes that both Mereclar and Terrenygit have...they do both have letters from OF bosses (I think one's from Hedrack, the other from Naquient).
They may not know of a mission to Hommlet, but if "Master Dunrat" starts telling them that they'd better pass him on through, cart and all, to the Air Bridge or else Hedrack will flay their souls, they're likely to pay attention.
As for the route, I'd say that Cordo's take is a pretty solid one. South gate for blessings, out and around to West gate, up through the Earth Temple to the Air Bridge, across the way and in. Probably wait near the Air Entrance after sending a slave to run to Hedrack and inform him of his arrival, handing the artifacts over directly, then heading for his quarters.
At least, that's how *I'd* behave if I were Dunrat.
