Tymerian's spellbook
If anyone has generated Tymerian's spellbook, I would be interested in taking a look. Not sure how to randomly generate it, and my players are looking for some specific spells from her.

(And it's too hard just to pick if you know what your players are looking for ;) )

"They were immediately and absolutely recognizable as adventurers. They were hardy and dangerous, lawless, stripped of allegiance or morality, living off their wits, stealing and killing, hiring themselves out to whoever and whatever came... They were scum who died violent deaths, hanging on to a certain cachet among the impressionable through their undeniable bravery and their occasionally impressive exploits" China Mieville, Perdido Street Station

Re: Tymerian's spellbook
Ok, I'll bite.

Tymerian's Travelling Spellbook:

A simple, plain travelling spellbook, bound in blue-dyed leather and bearing no mark or symbol.

0: All 0-level Spells

1: Shield, Mage Armor, Identify, Shocking Grasp, Ray of Enfeeblement

2: Summon Monster II, See Invisibility, Daylight, Mirror Image, Cat's Grace

3: Dispel Magic, Lightning Bolt, Fly, Leomund's Tiny Hut, Nondetection

4: Dimensional Anchor, Remove Curse, Arcane Eye, Shout, Enervation

5: Bigby's Interposing Hand, Cloudkill

The Leaves of Saril-Dal:

The spellbook of an Elven Wizard who's family had fallen on hard times since his passing. Although it cost her nearly every coin she had at the time, Tymerian purchased this book from his family. As of yet, she has not had time to master the higher-level spells within the book, but she has learned (and can access) all of the first and second level spells, as she's had naught BUT time here in Rastor.

The book has a wooden cover. The pages appear to be leaves pressed together and sealed in some unknown manner into oddly-shaped pages. The whole is sewn together with thick leather thongs, also well-preserved.

0: All 0-level spells

1: Endure Elements, Mount, Obscuring Mist, Feather Fall, Message

2: Web, Hypnotic Pattern, Scare, Darkvision, Whispering Wind

3: Sleet Storm, Gust of Wind, Shrink Item, Water Breathing

4: Solid Fog, Fear, Summon Nature's Ally IV*

* Yes, as an Arcane spell. Something a bit special and unique.

Wow, Andorax, Tymerian is a lot higher level in your campaign than in the module description. Did I miss something in your logs? Anyway, thanks for posting that, too, I'll use it IMC (0th-2nd level spells only though :) ).

Re: Tymerian's spellbook
thinking the same thing, she's only a fourth level char in the campaign as written...

i've also boosted her to be of some assistance to the PCs, but so far they haven't taken the bait though...

nice collection of spells, consider them stolen ;)

Re: Tymerian's spellbook
Guys, read it over again...page 40:

"Tymerian was once a powerful adventurer. She and her party tried to fly over hte volcano rim to break into the Temple of All-Consumption, were devastated by the lightning towers, and were eventually captured by wights."

My take on this was that she was part of a party that used to be high enough level to fly straight in. I'm assuming that she's a contemporary of Jurrikath Musseloto (Bard 5 being tortured by the Fire Temple, page 74), Vister (Paladin 7 trapped in the cells in the Outer Fane, page 122) and Erdso (Monk 8 being tortured in the Inner Fane, page 135). She's 4th level now on account of failed saves versus lost levels from the Wights. I had her initially pegged as 9th level, but that might be a bit high, so feel free to strip the 5th level spells and 1-2 4ths from her book and count her as formerly 7th or 8th.

Re: Tymerian's spellbook
i stand corrected...

it is plausible that she's the one who cast fly on her party initially, making her 5th level at least... probably higher...

very true... so i'll make her 8th or 9th (depending on a lot of ingame factors)

she might even be persuaded to reenter the mines instead of a fallen character (suppose she has finally mustered the courage to do so, and her plan is to see whatever happened to her former companions)

interesting...

I like that you put those captives all together as one group. For some reason that never even clicked with me. (I must be slipping in my old age) Just wanted to compliment you.

Re: Tymerian's spellbook
Ever since I read her background in the sidebar, I went looking for other captives and individuals that could be her companions. I had her pegged as higher, despite the lower levels of her companions, for the very same reason. The others might well have also suffered permanent level loss from the Wights (they could have all been 9th-10th going in).

I figure they probably went in with a Cleric, who may, or may not, have had the foresight to drop some Pro from Lightnings around. I also figure that said cleric was likely a fatality (Clerics don't last long in evil temples)...perhaps I'll even have someone meeting the description of the cleric from the party as one of the Dark Wights.

It's possible the Bard fled, was blasted on the way out, and thus was an easy capture by the Fire Temple forces (who looked out their window to see what all the commotion was about).

It's likely that the Paladin and Monk fell fighting the Wights, but were recovered before the Wights turned them into more Wights.

For the books (at least IMC), Tymerian fled by means of a Scroll of Teleport after it became clear that there was *nothing* she could do to prevent her companions falling.

I think it makes for a more interesting story, and it adds another layer to the encounters with the later PCs (especially if they find the Bard dead, for example).
