One Last Tanbrosh Question
As I've been re-reading the Rastor section in prep for todays game, I've had another question come up about Tanbrosh. It's never indicated that Tal will specifically try to to sell it to the party. I view the Tanbrosh as more of a sick hobby of Tal's rather than a plot of the ToAC.

Obviously the party will seek him out, since his name was on Dunrat's note, but how forceful should I be about Tanbrosh?

In addition, what are people's thoughts on the other villagers having their suspicions about it? Errant42, inhis excellent thread on the subject has villagers making concerned comments about it. I've also seen people having Tal try ad slip it into PC's food/drink while in town.

I don't want to force it on them, but I'd like to give them the opportunity to find it and learn about it, and maybe experience it if they're stupid enough to buy a major stat-enhancing agent that only costs 5cp.

Re: One Last Tanbrosh Question
It really depends on how PCs approach Tal. If they approach him in a friendly manner, feigning ignorance about the cult and the plot, he will almost certainly try to sell to them... not forcefully, since that would raise suspicion. Like many drug dealers, he probably gives them the first dose (1 each) for free. "Just try it out, I promise you'll like it!" As for slipping it into the food... Tal might try that if the PCs become a big problem, but such a tactic is risky at best (I'd say that Tanbrosh shows up on a Detect Poison, because it has potentially fatal side effects).

As with any drug, Tanbrosh addicts will start to act differently, both while on the drug and when they need it. The addicts' friends will likely become concerned about the change in their behavior. If they know about the drug, they will probably assume that it's the cause... and won't be very happy with Tal. If not, they might think the addict is sick or something, and either not worry about it ("none o my business") or seek a cure... probably talking to Rerrid or Tymerian (or any PC clerics) for help.

Btw, thanks for the compliment!

Re: One Last Tanbrosh Question
Remember my comment about stupid PCs taking any 'potion' offered by a greasy guy who gives them the first dose free. One of mine did it. This was after the rest of the party urged him to try it, but still . . .

Of course, they all treated him bad afterward. I heard mention of an intervention. Just wait until the next morning . . .

Is Tanbrosh completely addictive after one dose? The module doesn't state that it is, but that was my understanding. The party dumped out their other vial after the gnome started getting loopy (see the log), which should hurt their chances fo analyzing it. I think they may try to kill Tal as soon as they realize the difficulties . . .
