First session...loads of fun...but questions!
Well...I just have to tell you that I ran the first session of RttToEE the other night and it was awesome. I as well as the players are already thirsting for a lot more!!!
But you all already know that!!! heheheh
I don't want to make a campaign log but I will update you to ease in answering my questions.....if you would be so kind!!
The PCs went to Hommlet (Rogue 4, Ranger 4, Cleric Pelor 4) and of course right to the Inn of the WW. I set it up so that Elmo, Chatrilon, Meridosen, and a few other townsfolk were hanging out. Had some fun RP...found out about nulb and moathouse as well as a little history....PCs enquired about going to moathouse....Chatrilon said he would accompany them there to show them that nothing was going on.
Fought and beat Big U with the help of Chat....healed him....he tried to death attack cleric...them smoked him with a few crits!!! very exciting!!!
Went down below...fought gnolls....found Spagnoir....gave pcs info as per the module......PCs decided to accompany him back to town!!
Now the cool stuff....
PCs decided to use ruble from in the moathouse to seal of the door and keep everyone trapped down there. They figured that the people down below would think the dragon did it! They also cleaned up the gnoll bodies so the cult would think they somehow deserted!!
I was very impressed by this idea....gave an extra 100 xp for it actually!
Finally my question.....
1) How do you think the cult below will react to this?
2) The group plans to inform Elmo in the town of this while using zone of truth so that he knows what they are saying is absolutely true (They also took EEE symbols from the bodies for proof.) How do you think he will react to this as well as others in the town?
3) How do you think this will advance the plans of the members of the cult in town? Will they break their cover to try and assassinate the PCs?
4) If anyone has any other cool suggestions please let me know!!

did the pcs seal of both exits? i mean, did they find the secret entrance? if not, the cultists might try to break out that way!

at this time, no one is worried about EEE personel skulking around. Tharizdun is safely locked away. Y'Dey might raise an eyebrow (or two) but that'll be all. "the crazy cultists just won't quit" might be her remark

1)they wont break their cover to assassinate anyone just yet, but they will head for the moathouse as soon as they hear news of the entrapment of their allies
2)also keep in mind that the wagon will be arriving soon (3 days after the pcs first enter the moathouse)
the crew of the wagon will see a dead dragon, and a collapsed staircase, so they might also try to clear the rubble
3) no one but the pcs will follow up on the situation, elmo and his badgers explicitely stay in town to defend it (as written). So if the pcs don't check up on the moathouse any time soon, the cultists will be gone. Give them a chance to notice dunrat and the crew sneaking out of town and stuff...

Besides Phil's comment, I don't think the PC's could fill up that HUGE staircase without the gnolls noticing what's going. Okay, let's assume the cultists did nothing while it was being filled, but they would surely realize it wasn't the dragon. They would definitely uncover a route (and have the undead help them in this of course) and be able to escape. The dragon had them there for three days and didn't try to encase them in stone.
Elmo probably wouldn't even want them to use zone of truth. Try to keep the PC's from relying on such magic as it is easy enough to use similar types of magic to fool people. Elmo could say something like, "How do I know what you cast? Let's go talk to Jaroo." This would give Jaroo first hand knowledge of what happened and be able to react immediately by informing Dunrat. No assassination attempts yet though.
