Slave Rings
So if you're using the slave rings from BoVD, with Hedrack having a master ring and selected minions having slave rings, what happens if your party slays one of said minions and one party member decides to try on the shiny new ring which they find on the corpse?
Does Hedrack instantly know about the new wearer, or is he none the wiser until he tries to communicate through it? How would any of you rule / roleplay such a situation? In fact, can it even happen? I don't see why not but then again I don't seem to recall ever seeing such an occurence mentioned anywhere on this board....

Re: Slave Rings
My inclination is that he would know immediately that someone else is wearing the ring, and would likely use the first "communication" to ask who it is. Receiving no answer, he would probably send some pain, followed up by a repeated inquiry.
Definately pull the player aside for this, and have him RP the groans/hollars of pain from the next room. I don't recall what (IF) there's a limit on how much pain you can deal with the thing. If there is, then hold off on using up the last one and be patient, question more tomorrow.
If not, then Hedrack has a brand new stress reliever. Any time he's stressed out or frustrated, he can send pain to this new individual who seems to keep surviving the process.
Once he DOES know who it is, though, he's definately going to be bent on that individual's destruction (if for no other reason than killing the original wearer), and the scry check to find him should be pretty easy. Play it up. The player has just volunteered to be a DM punching bag.
