What to do with NPC's (live or let die?)
Some questions on the starting village of Hommlet:
I am going to start with RttToEE. It will be the first time I DM a campaign from a book (or any other pre-made story). I was reading the Hommlet NPC charactes and I have a question now:
Can Jaroo (the doppelganger), Elmo (for example when he comes to help at a fight) or any other NPC in Hommlet be killed in a battle? Or are there NPC's that have to live through the story?

Any other tips are welcome too!
Thanks!

The only NPC you meet early on that is vital to the later story is Lareth, and it specifically states in the module that if the party kills Lareth, the hedrack and the doomdreamers will resurrect him. So don't be afraid of letting NPCs die.

In my campaign, the party killed every single bad guy NPC except for Vacra (who escaped, twice) and Rarkus, who is commanding the ToEE for the party sorceress. It's okay to let them die, let them all die. You can always make new ones that look just like the old ones. If you run into plot difficulties later, feel free to post questions here. :)
