RttToEE campaign over.
In a flash the wizard attacked the Drow I had placed in the mines trying to sneak attack them. The fighter of the party got beat down to five hit points and two of the PCs fled quickly out of the area. Then the mage yells back that he wants a truce after seeing the power of the Drow. The Sorceror of the group heads the opposite way and flys all the way around the mines at mach speed in order to avoid the drow. The Drow tell the fighter and wizard that one can go and get the rest of the group and they must leave their area immediately. (The Drow were in the mines just researching the area really, but they had aligned themselves with the Temple in order to gain access.) The fighter though quickly leaves the wizard there and goes to get the others of the group, but instead the three that went that way leave and go back to Rastor leaving the wizard there.
The wizard is then captured and handed over to the Outer Fane for a fee. The problem though is that the wizard was holding all of the keys, and the rest of the group decided it wasn't worth there life to go back in there. (Of course by this time the Barbarian/Sorceror of the group is changed by the demonstone.)
So the group has now decided to travel the world and see what type of trouble they can get into. Although they did spread the word about the mines and the temple and such all around to everyone they met before leaving the area.

Thanks for all the help with the module. It really did help out. Anyone got any suggestions of what type of mini adventures I could do with the group on the way while they are traveling.

Thanks,
Boden Blagden.

The kind where the world ends because Tharizdun is released? I'm pretty surprised that they'd both abandon a party member and the fate of the world; surely by this point they know enough of what's going on to know the consequences of their (in-)actions.

They should totally have to deal with the consequences of their inaction...

Here's what I'd consider. Give them a hook that travels to the other side of the continent...nonmagically. This should take a few months of game time. Then, give them a really nice adventure where everything works out well for the party. Slay a dragon, find a horde of treasure, save a beautiful, grateful and single princess with a father who's just itching to marry her off...all the cliches. Then, just when things couldn't get any better for the characters, tear it all down.

A huge column of purplish light from the recovered temple that can be seen for hundreds of miles...the skies blacken in mid-day, the sun sputters and falls, magic becomes unstable, maybe have the dead body of a clerics diety crash out of the sky and hurled onto the land. Then you can either role-play survival in this post apocalyptic world, or you can just have giant purple tentacles erupt from the ground and crush the life out of everyone. Start with the beautiful and now terrified rather than grateful princess...

JRGiant, that's quite a good description of a Tharizdun-esque apocalypse. I especially like the part about the body of the deity dropping to the ground.

Anyway, I agree. The group just doesn't decide to "stop the adventure" and do something else. I can see, "Okay, we give up, we're quitters, we can't handle it, let's play a different campaign", at which point it'd have to be a whole different world and setting, one in which Tharizdun doesn't exist. Quite possibly, you could give the players control over the bad guys in the temple and have to try to rebuild it while adventurers start coming in (real adventurers, not those panty-waists that ran away) and disrupting things.

Thanks for helping us out, too, Boden, and best of luck in your adventures.

Re: RttToEE campaign over.
Well an interesting thing has happened. A lot of stuff is said in character by my players via e-mail.
The fighter of the party and the Barbarian were joking around about the wizard and his foul up, and the Sorceror said that he couldn't believe they were making fun of a fallen comrade and that he could still be alive. (of course what they don't know is that he was given over to Thrommel.) :evil
So the Sorceror left the party and is going to try and find a new group to try and find his friend the wizard and stop the evil that has come into the mines.
With this development, instead of making everyone else roll up new characters, I am going to write up the adventures of Octavus the Sorceror/Sacred Exorcist and his new party against the rest of the Temple of Elemental Evil. When I am done with it I will post it on here.

Happy gaming everyone.
