Recovered Temple Question . . .
I'm not anywhere near this point in my game, but since I'm working on the special PSD map for it, I thought I'd ask:

If the PCs come in via the tunnel in the cottage, where do they show up? The book says area 2D, but there is no area 2D. Also, is there another way into the recovered temple area?

Re: Recovered Temple Question . . .
It's a bit confusing. From the cottage, the passage ends in an oval cavern. From the cavern, one obvious passage goes to a 10' x 15' room below the hobgoblin rebels' tower. That's 2D and is described on p. 34. From the oval cavern, a secret passage goes sharply down and south for 600 ft. before it becomes the upper left passage on the map of the Recovered Temple (Upper Portion).

Hope that helps.

Indeed, that part is written very confusingly. A (small scale) map would have been very helpful. I think I screwed it up, when my party went in there before the Doomdreamers -- I described the rubble in the oval room, where the secret door will be, but in retrospect, I think the rubble should be blocking the passage _behind_ the secret door. Now, when the party gets back, they'll see the rubble's been cleared, and know exactly where to search for the secret door. :\

I had the rubble behind that secret door, and the party found it. They should have no trouble getting back in.

I'm a little confused by the upper-left reference . . . Do you mean upper-right, which is the portion of the map that has a passage that continues off the edge?

Wait. I just looked at it. It IS upper left if you turn the map to a northerly orientation.

Is this the only entrance to the recovered temple?

Ayup. Which gives the players an excellent opportunity to do some interaction with the high & mighty of Hommlet.

Re: Recovered Temple Question . . .
I was just reviewing the Ruined Temple over lunch planning for tonight's session and I realized (I think) that almost all the east/west directions for those secret passages under the Tower and the intro to Chapter 7 are flipped. They certainly are flipped when comparing the original descriptions of the ToEE and I think they should be flipped for spatial consistency in Return. The major problem is that the passage out of the Tower (northeast of the Temple) heads east but then somehow ends up hitting the west wall of the Ruined Temple lower level.

I'll write up a bit more specifics in that public Errata thread about it after my session's done this week. I need to focus on hob preparations right now :evil
