Heading to the Air Bridge Complex - any advice?
Well, my group will be moving up into the Air Bridge Complex on Monday. Does anyone want to give me words of wisdom/pointers/ideas on how to kill everyone? The party pretty handily destroyed the Earth Temple (with a great scene of everyone heaving on a rope to break the altar while a securely bound Snearak looked on in horror), and I'd like to give them a bit more challenge . . .

Andorax's tried and true tactic of casting silence on the air elemental is an almost sure fire way to cause immeasurable harm to your party.

It's an awesome tactic, just be careful with it.

Also play up the intra-temple rivalry if things are going bad for our heroes. Fachish probably doesn't realize how traitorous his subordinates are. See if you can't find some ways to work in that angle. Maybe even in a non-combat encounter since I always think it smacks of too much deus ex machina when NPC's turn on each other in a fight.

Re: Heading to the Air Bridge Complex - any advice?
I played the Bridge Complex as a running battle. The sound of a bellowing, enraged Athach alerted the complex to the attack. I had the warriors staged at intersections with readied attacks to fire at anything that would come through doors and then any surviving warriors would retreat towards the chimera. An invisible Oamarthis was set to release the chimera as the last of his forces moved past and into the complex dining hall. The plan was to draw the forces into a fight with the chimera. If that guardian didn't finish them off then the warriors would taunt them into the dining hall and then Oamarthis and Riu would attack from behind. Oamarthis would attack physically but Riu would stay back and project his image into the dining hall while using his emotion and charm spells. Riu would then move in and attack physically but prepared to Dimention Door out if things got bad. I had Riu retreat to the Water Temple to warn them, as I suspect that he's not particularly loyal to any of the CRM forces.

Overall, I found the Northern Bridge Complex to be fairly weak but at least this tactic caused my players to fight a running battle, sometimes getting separated ... which is easy when you have a monk moving at speed 60 and the platemailed fighter moving at speed 20 ... and gettings some good one-on-one battles between the monk and chimera, and between Oamarthis and the fighter.

Could anybody maybe point out the silenced air elemental tactic briefly here ?
I donīt see the point. Itīs still visible, isnīt it ?
What does make a silenced air elemental more difficult to encounter than a silenced "whatever" ?

Kyle, who feels like a complete tactics noob :(

he will then be the bane of any spellcaster he engages...

normally a player gets a save if anyone casts silence upon him.... and most casters will shake it off

but if you cast it on an air elemental, which moves very fast (100 feet) then it can take any caster out of the equasion in one round and even pummel him to death without any problems whatsoever :evil

I just realized I posted about the Air Temple, not the Air Bridge.

Duh.

Trithereon's advice is sound - this place is pretty organized, so use sort of a rolling thunder strategy to send attackers in waves. Riu Lotas should make the most of his spell-like abilities they are quite powerful.

That athach will wallop some PC's, it's probably best to send him in early, when they have the most hit points.

The nasty thing about a silenced air elemental is flight+silence+reach = dead mages. They fly along the ceiling out of reach and rake down. Silenced invisible stalkers are worse.
