Lareth in the Moathouse: A Thought Experiment
So, imagine that you've been sulking around Nulb for some decade now and gained great insights into the nature of oblivion and its power through the years of hermit living among the blasted souls of the undead. Now some punk group of goodie-goodie adventurers comes through town, and they intrigue you enough with some curious information that you don't kill them outright--this time.

Seems they've uncovered a massive shrine of some sort in the very moathouse you nearly lost your life in. The one those *$%#$ idiots "relocated" you to after your nosing around was getting too close to the truth. Their evidence--if they're telling the truth--would seem to indicate that it might even be a bastion of power for him, the one you've been suspecting to have a hand in this for some long time. From what they've told you, no one else knows except some dolts in Hommlet.

It didn't take you long to decide. You gathered up your meager possessions and made preparations for the short journey. A pity you didn't pray for a glyph today to protect your chair. So much insight came to you while rocking in it. It should be protected from falling into the wrong hands. But it might be a short trip. It might be OK. You give it a tender stroke on the arm on the way out. You wonder where those fools wandered off to. Maybe you should have killed them. Maybe you still should...

No, after. After discovering. It's time to see whether he still has the power you think he does...

I have some ideas about what happens to Lareth in the moathouse that I'll fictionalize for later (he's surely going to have a shiny new dagger ;) ), but anyone have any neat things that they'd see happening? The fruit would be a nice touch too, but he does not have a torch (nor would he be likely to know what to do with it any more than the PCs). The place is completely cleared out except for the cockatrices in the exit tunnel. The party did not discover the alter. No one has restricted access to any part of the place yet. Y'dey is waiting for some more information from Verbobonc before deciding what to do with the place.
