New Campaign
Hullo everyone,

I've only just registered my name on this board but I've been a lurker for months now, reading all the campaign logs and general good advice that goes on here. On Wednesday coming (14th May 2003) I'm starting DMing a brand new campaign, set in Greyhawk which is going to use RTtToEE as its main backbone. Rather than posting a weekly campaign log to these boards I've set up a web page for my new campaign here: uk.geocities.com/homlett/ (yes, I know Hommlet isn't spelt that way but someone already took the correct spelling! >: ).

I'm expecting to post a few campaign questions here and hopefully get a few comments on the campaign as it goes ahead.

I'm starting the campaign in Safeton and the first part of it will be the characters escorting a merchant with some supplies to Hommlet. All the adventures along the way are simply Dungeon magazine modules, cobbled and coerced to work with my campaign plot.

Anyway, it's good to be here!! :)

Cheers
Blakey

Re: New Campaign
Welcome! Please update us when your website is updated. I'll read, but need to when and the reminder would be helpful! Anyway, looks good so far. What's wrong with gnomes? :\ And, a dwarven druid? That stone cunning is going to come in handy around the rock garden. ;)

Re: New Campaign
Welcome! Glad to have you here.

Please ask questions and add to threads already here. We can only get better.

Also, if you have the time and/or inclination, maybe you could cut n' paste your log from your website to a thread here? I know it's pure laziness, but I (and others, I know) have a tendency to only read what's posted here instead of heading over to other sites.

Again, laziness, I know, but there none-the-less. I look forward to more as time goes on.

Re: New Campaign
Hey guys,

Thanks for the welcome. If it makes it easier for you guys I'll happily post my session logs to a thread here. The thing is, I didn't want to take up extra space on the boards and push my campaign into people's faces so I just figured I post when things are updated on my web page.

Note too sure who's going to be writing the session logs at the moment - there might be a session log by me and a personal journal by one of the players - so you get two sides of the action.

Will keep you informed - first session starts tomorrow!

Cheers,
Blakey

Re: New Campaign
While it would be great to see Blakey's log here - and I do think you should post it here, mate - I recommend everyone to check out his web site. Once it's finished, it could easily see it serve as a model for anyone's RttToEE campaign with geographical and social information. I mean, it even has an essay on the Beers of Greyhawk. How cool is that?!

Re: New Campaign
Infiniti,

My dislike of Gnomes is a personal thing - I just can't seem to visualise them without thinking of garden ornaments with fishing poles. I guess all the other races are deeply in my blood from many years of reading Tolkien - but since he ignored them I have a tendancy to do so too. Typically one of my players had to play one after my comment in the players guide. :rolleyes He's a well rounded character though, so I'm happy about that.

As for the dwarven druid, Torrent, he's got a fairly detailed background to explain this unusual race/class combination and his unusual name, and it works quite well. I'm thinking that he actually grew up in the CRM (although it was such a long time ago he won't remember anything specific). I'm also thinking that as he is a priest (albeit a druid) and as he worships Moradin as well as nature (Nature as a druid, Moradin as a dwarf), and as he's the only dwarf in the party, and as he's from the CRM originally, I might give him the same powers as a cleric of Moradin in the dwarf temple. We shall see if his character even lasts that long! :D His family are currently living in Rastor, but he doesn't know that. They were kicked out when the doomdreamers came. That will at least make the whole CRM area personal for him.

The gnome, Zathras, is an alchemist and his master was last seen on a trip to visit someone in Hommlet, a fellow alchemist called Spugnior, and hasn't been seen for ages, so Zathras has decided to pack up his things and go to Hommlet to find him. I'm going to have his master have been checking out the moathouse with Spugnoir and have him having been captured by the priests and sent to the CRM. Spugnoir will have heard the priests saying they were going to take him to the "main temple" (actually the ToAC) which I'm hoping will lead the players to the ToEE, before they head out to Rastor. Haven't decided yet what fate had in store for Zath's master - he may still be alive. He may not...

Barishi is probably going to be the party leader. He's Baklunish and an affable fellow (lots of diplomacy skills). He just got a vision from Xan Yae as he was meditating the first night of the campaign. It's on his homepage on the web page.

I've updated the web page with the backgrounds of the three completed characters now.

Hopefully the other two are making a half-orc rogue, with 18 strength and a great axe (I like it!!) and a human (Oeridian) ranger, who's likely to just take fighter levels after that - he wants to fight with bastard sword and short sword. They will be finalised before we start tomorrow evening.
