Quick help - 4 faces statute
Please could anyone point to me the interpretation of the 4 faces statute? I know it's been asked many times but I just can't locate it. Many thanks.

Re: Quick help - 4 faces statute
The four-face statue is a copy of the one that first appears in the module WG4 - The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun. It's the first big, obvious clue (to old-hand gamers) that Big T is involved in this mess.

The statue represents the four-fold nature of Tharizdun, that there are different "aspects" of him, corresponding to the four basic class types. There's a really bizarre and funky effect from the 10' tall version in the dungeon of WG4, and that's the best place to look it up (I can't begin to describe it here and now).

It's possible the EEE is another "four-fold" manifestation of Tharizdun, with the four elements taking the place of the four core class types.

Re: Quick help - 4 faces statute
I had this problem too, and with Andorax's helpful input (I think it was Andorax - apologies if my memory is incorrect), I went and bought the WG4 ESD.

I have to say I was a little disappointed with it. The four aspects of Tharizdun represented in the four statues are aimed at the four core AD&D character classes (fighter, thief, cleric and magic user), which didn't seem to make very much sense story-wise. It would make more sense to me if they were about the elements (fire, water etc).

Knowing what I do now, that's what I'd attempt with these statues - that, or change the number of sides from four to three or five. If your players HAVE played WG4 somewhere in the past and can remember it clearly, it's a nice clue. But if not, I think it just confuses matters a bit more than is necessary.
