More Benhamtroll Campaign Stuff
Well we had another interesting session yesterday. The session before the party had successfully infiltrated the fire bridge complex, taking out the deinos, the two wizards, all the trolls, D'Gran, one of the hill giants, and a whole pile of human warriors. They separated D'Gran's head from his shoulders, which succeeded in taking him out of commision (since they want to mount it on their wagon . . .)

This session they quickly had to fight the gnolls, but then they were finished witht e majority of bad guys. They began the exploration of the complex, finding Descritad's stuff in D'gran's room, but taking most of it as payment for freeing her. She grudgingly agreed, figuring she'd just steal it back later.

The fighter/cleric, dwarven mage, and gnome rogue headed down the hall and ended up in the giant lair. The giant was not exceptionally agressive, although he wanted to know what they were doing there. The F/C tried to get the giant to leave and check out the bridge, saying first that D'Gran wanted him, and then that Rau was asking for him. Vech just kind of shrugged, saying he'd rather stay there. Meanwhile, the dwarf was doing eveything in his power to try and prevent himself from simply attacking the giant. The gnome, being the goofball that he is, kept whispering the dwarf that he should just kill it. I guess it was his idea of a joke. Finally, the dwarf snapped and charged in. A might battle ensued, with Descritad running down the hall to where the Bardbarian waited, where she was grabbed and dragged back, but later in the battle.

Now, half the party was stat drained due to traps, and they had used most of their spells and other items in the previous battle, so they were at a serious disadvantage. The F/C went toe-to-toe witht he giant, getting some good hits in (inlcuding a 40-point crit), but that that +16 to hit and 2d6+10 damage stacks up, and his head was eventually shoved down into his chest cavity, killing him dead. The dwarf was battling Farkis when the Giant turned attention on him, and the gnome went invisible. A well placed club dropped the dwarf, but didn't kill him. At this point the Bardbarian and Descritad show up, and nearly crap their pants. The Bardbarian raises up the the earth key and says "We come from the earth temple, stand down!" The giant answers with a crack to the skull that drops him to 9 hp. The wolverine takes a bite at Descritad, who goes into a rage and drops it. The Bardbarian runs like a girl at this point, but the gnome sneak attacks the giant, doing enough damage to drop him to drop him to zero. The giant freaks out and runs from the room, only to drop from the strain at the feet of the bardbarian. The gnome riffles through the dwarf's pack and finds a couple of potions which he feeds to him. Descritad 'helps' managing to lift the bag of holding, which the gnome doesn't catch. The dwarf, however, notices the missing bag, and his lawful neutral nature kicks in and they exact punishment on the halfling, which they've never really trusted. And so ends Descritad. They decide it's time to head out, which means a trip to Verbobonc. So they drag the F/C back up to where they've stashed their wagon. They make a stop in Rastor to get Rerrid to cast a Gentle Repose on the dead guy so that they can make it to the big V. Along the way they fight off ambushes from Gnolls and Orcs, and scare away a couple of temple guys looking for sacrifices. about a half day outside of Verbobonc, they are set upon by 5 Dire Wolves (CR3? I don't think so . . .) They are able to defeat them, but not before the bardbarian is mauled into a doggy treat. SO . . . they toss him into the pile of bodies in the back of the wagon and limp the res of the way into town. They take the C/F to the temple of Kord (his god), and shell out the nearly 7000gp for a true res, and then drop off the bardbarian's body with his father (the player decided to roll up a new character . . .) They do their shopping, and prepare to head back to crater to see what the can discover about what's going on. Next session they will meet a new fighter who will hopefully help them with the nastiness that's in store for them.

Is that a picture of Tom Sellek with an eyepatch!?

Sounds like a good game. I got confused when the battle ensued. I had trouble understanding who got his head shoved into his chest. Sounds like a tough battle. Sometimes it's better for the PCs to just regroup and rest!

I realized after writing it that it got a little confusing. It was the Fighter/Cleric of Kord, Markham. I think he was dropped to something like -20. Dead, dead, dead.

And yes, it is a picture of Tom Selleck with an eyepatch. . .
