Weather??
Hi,

What are you guys using to determine the local weather?

What do you think the weather is like in Rastor? What local in the U.S./world would the weather in Rastor be like?

I was thinking of modeling the weather for Rastor on Denver, CO. I can then look up actual weather for a given day. For example IMC its May 14. So, looking at the weather for that day:

What do you think? Would you pick a different point of reference for Rastor? What about Verbabonc and Hammlet?

Re: Good question
Smetzger, I think this is an interesting question. I've often wondered the same thing. In an old Greyhawk Box set (the one with 2 softcover books) one of the books had descriptions of weather in the Flanaes. Of course, the one I can find is the wrong one.

In Reid's Book, "The Temple of Elemental Evil," it rains on Shanhaevel on his way to Homlett in the spring. It also snows, but it's at the wrong time of year and the characters mention it's unseasonably cold - apparently due to magical invocation. But I'm guessing it does snow in the Kron Hills and the Mountains. But I think it stays warm enough to prevent snow in the Verbobonc Valley, even in the winter. But it does rain in the valley... I think Denver, Co. weather is appropriate for the mountains and hills, i.e., Rastor and CRM. But it might be more forgiving in the valley.

I guess I'm giving a non-answer. I hope another patron can give a much better answer than my aimless rambling.

Online Greyhawk Weather/Temperature Generator:

edulinux.edu2.evitech.fi/...orecaster/

Rastor & the CRM are roughly at 33 degrees North in Hill/Rough terrain.

Verbobonc is about 37 degrees North in Plains

Hommlet is roughly 35 degrees North in Hills/Rough terrain.

I use
I've been using WeatherMaster IMC.
www.milieusim.com
It's a fairly complex program, and someone's already made up a complete database for Oerth. I wager that this is more accurate than the other program given, but then I may be wrong.

Oh, and WeatherMaster costs money, if you want it for longer than 30 days. But I advise you to check it out, it's great for any campaign!:D
