Dunrat in the CRM
IMC the heroes have started with the South Entrance and wiped out the Air Temple. Although they haven't destroyed the altar yet.
Dunrat and Chenashi have just arrived at the Main Entrance with the 4-sided statue (but the heroes have the other artifacts).
1) Dunrat is pretty sure the party went to the South Entrance.
2) He knows the party has some of 'his' artifacts.
3) He may be able to declare victory to his superiors, since he does have the 4-sided statue (he can conveniently omit the existence of the other artifacts
4) He doesn't have any of his magic items and he knows he can't take the party on without alot of help.
What do you think Dunrat will do?

Re: Dunrat in the CRM
How long has passed since Dunrat and the party saw each other last? Is there a chance that he might have levelled up and gotten hold of some items?
Other than that, he might just come clean - of sorts - to Naquent and tell everything he knows about the party. It'll make it so much easier to scry on them when and if it becomes necessary.
OR - if you want to keep the Outer Fane out of this for a while - he might go straight to the Temple of Fire and make an ally there by warning Tessimon that intruders might come her way.

Re: Dunrat in the CRM
Its been @22 days or so.
Yeah I can ping Dunrat and Chenashi. They have after all:
1) Escaped from prison, Killed Maridosen(she was also in prison and 'talked too much')
2) Recovered the artifact and returned it to the CRM.
I am thinking that he'll hole up at the Main Entrance for a couple of days and try and figure out what to do. Then he can go to the Outer Fane...
He'll need a key or do you think he has been 'blessed'?
Perhaps he will be assigned as the new head priest of the Air Temple, providing the PCs don't destroy the altar. Maybe he gets a trip through the infernal machine for loseing the other artifacts and his Obex holy symbol( I doubt the cult wants word of Obex holy symbol weilding clerics to get around).

Re: Dunrat in the CRM
I would hold Dunrat back, letting him drop out of site for a while, then pop up again later as a recurring villain. Others will offer other good suggestions, and of course, YMMV.
Hedrack has four senior clerical minions that normally reside in the Outer Fane -- Master Dunrat (area 50), Master Varachan (area 41), Mistress Naquent (area 30), and Master Ukemil (area 40). IMC, I assumed that all the Masters were "blessed", although I've been unable to locate a quote from the module to support that.
At the beginning of the adventure, Dunrat, who is apparently the most junior of the Masters, has been sent to Hommlet on a special mission. He is a cleric of Tharizdun, not the EEE, and is fully aware of the relationship between the two faiths. He has risen through the EEE ranks already, distinguished himself early (since many EEE clerics are of higher level), and has been indoctrinated into the next level of the cult. Like Hedrack, I don't believe that he would see any value in the elemental temples other than as a perimeter defense for the Fanes and a testing ground for future Masters. He would be eager to return to his important duties in the Outer Fane as soon as possible.
I believe that Dunrat would insist on traveling immediately to the Outer Fane with his charges. He believes that his mission is critically important, and he would be unlikely to tolerate any delays in reporting to his superiors.
The specifics could go like this. Dunrat attempts to return to the Outer Fane by the most direct route, likely the Air Bridge. If he makes it, he would make a report to Hedrack. This would not necessarily trigger an alert of the Outer Fane, because Hedrack would still underestimate the PC threat until two temples fall. After all, Hedrack is preoccupied by the search for the Champion of Elemental Evil. Once the Outer Fane is alerted, you could send out Dunrat as one of Hedrack's "warnings" (the others are an assassin, Ukemil and the lions, and the invisible stalkers). Alternately, the PCs could stumble into Dunrat later in the Outer Fane. Imagine the look on their faces when they recognize their old foe after dozens of sessions in the CRM!
In either case, I would advance Dunrat, re-equip him with new and interesting magic items, and tack on a useful demonic addition. As you already noted, Hedrack may not be completely delighted with the outcome of the mission. There could also be unpleasent consequences for Master D.

Hmm
You can have Dunrat to play the role as Mini Hedrack

Re: Hmm
Hedrack's definitely been blessed. If not, he can call on a SER to fly him in, no prob.
I'll agree on the extra levels, and the demonic addition is just nasty (nice, but nasty). You might consider making him head up a posse for the PCs and a wide-ranging one at that. Dunrat is the guy who might show up in Kron, Verbobonc, or wherever looking for the PCs.
I don't necessarily see him as a major player in the Outer Fane. He's Naquent's assistant (cf. she's the one leaving a note in his room), and he probably just drew the short draw being sent on a retrieval/scouting mission. After all, it would probably be better staying close to power than in a hole like Hommlet. Naturally, if you adopt Andorax' suggestion (from the FAQ) of having him look for - and find - the Champion of Evil, then it's an honorary assignment, and Dunrat's Marked for Greatness (TM).
