Bardic Knowledge and the CRM
I have a bard in the group who tries to use bardic knowledge on everything. The group found some of the air temple's holy symbols. Would that be included under bardic knowledge or knowledge religion? I figure the CRM is so secret that this information would not be in songs or established religion lore. I would like to make the holy symbol connectin by actually discovering the different ones in their appropriate temples. I also don't want to rip off my players if they could roll for knowledge on the matter.
While I'm on it: What about this module could be known with bardic knowledge?

Re: Bardic Knowledge and the CRM
It would be knowledge (religion) as indicated in the module for the EEE and obex symbols. A point brought upon the forum many moons ago was a suggestion that you increase the DC for knowledge (religion) on all things Tharizdun, possibly up to 25 or even 30.
Anything that is possible with a knowledge check should be possible with a bardic knowledge check, though you can probably find justification for upping the DC (by maybe 5). That would signify that although there is some information to be garnered, there is little chance someone wrote literature or even a song on it. However, this depends on what you view bardic knowledge to actually do. Is it only songs? Does it also include poetry, novelization, epics, any form of writing, dancing?
I'm of the mind that anything about the history could be known with bardic knowledge, including relevant hierarchical information about the cult (i.e. basically what some inhabitants of the mines and even the Outer Fane know). After all, bards need all the help they can get to be useful.

But what about specifically to the holy symbols? Would he know that the white disk attached is a symbol for the air temple? Sounds like your answer would probably be yes. I might give him another roll on it make a DC. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Bardic Knowledge and the CRM
I'm inclined to think the sacking of the ToEE by groups of adventurers as well as the battle of Emery Meadows would be part of bardic knowledge. This would include details like the holy symbols I believe, but the DC should be fairly high.
As for other things that bards might know about, this would include but not be limited to:
* Major NPC good guys and bad guys such as Y'day, Hedrack, Lareth, Rufus and Burne, but not including more recent or obscure figures such as Dunrat, the Triad, the doomdreamers, etc.
* The existance of a dwarven "diamond mine" that lost contact with everyone years ago.
* Rumors of adventurers heading for Rastor and never being heard from again.
* If you use the excellent "Memoirs of the First" from the BoB, then tack on Thrommel, Joline's search for him, the disappearance of Thrommel's brothers and even Fragarch (spelling?).

Yes, Bardic Knowledge covers _anything_
So, I say allow the check but feel free to adjust the DC as you see fit.
