Ok Daeinar you are added. In the other thread you seemed to initimate that you only wanted to do part of the moathouse. If that is the case let me know and I will take you off part of it.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
Since I am going to run this scenario in 3.5 anyway, I might as well vollunteer to do some community service I am more interested in doing some work for the CRM or better the Inner/Outer Fane. I have no real preference. Right now I do not have the time to read through 100+ messages of the other threat. So can somebody summerize what was/is decided in that threat?

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
Ok, really quick summary, for Madfox and anyone else looking to help out.
Cordo Crawfoot has posted a statblock for Chatrillion (search for it, it's around post #80). It contains the format for the new Appendix 3 entries.
Stick to the standardized format in the book as much as possible, save for adding the changes as noted in the block Cordo posted.
There are only two further additions above and beyond what he posted there (Note, ALL changes to the statblock from the book's original are in lime).
1) After the "location" line, a new paragraph in this format:
Note: A spellbook no longer appears in Chatrillion's inventory, as he is now a spontanious caster.
This is where you list anything that has been REMOVED from the statblock because of converting to 3.5.
2) After that, at the very end, a new paragraph in this format:
Comments: I decided on Obscuring Mist and Disguise Self for his two "spells known", they made the most sense. Also, I had to reassign skill ranks from Innuendo (an eliminated skill). I thought Slight of Hand fit.
The comments paragraph is basically "design notes" It includes anything you're even remotely unsure about and wish to have be part of "discussion".
Two final reminders for conversion:
1) Please remember to enclose the statblock in {quote} {/quote} tags.
2) Please remember to check and integrate any Errata on the NPCs along with the 3.5 conversion process.
At this point, I'd like to keep the "discussion" to a minimum in this thread, unless it's discussing posted statblocks. If you wish to volunteer, do so in the following format:
Madfox:
I am volunteering to work on the Outer Fane NPCs.
The according "section boss" will list your name next to those assigned parts. Then you can start posting edited statblocks in the listed format, correcting as suggestions come in.
If you have any questions or suggestions about methodology, please ask them back in the previous thread.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
madfox, Delgar2: you've both been added above. madfox, I put you on all the Inner Fane and misc stuff around there. There's really not much besides all the NPC's in the Inner Fane. When you get done with that, you can be on the rest of the Outer Fane or whatever's left, depending on how many others volunteer.
PS I haven't assigned myself yet because I don't have the lousy books yet!

Geynor Ton
Whew, I hope I got the format straight...
Edit: Apparently not, but well...
Quote:
Page 167
Geynor Ton: Human Clr 2; Medium humanoid; HD 2d8+4; hp 16; Init +0; Spd 20 ft.; AC 19, touch 10, flat-footed 19; Base Atk +1; Grp +1; Atk +2 melee (1d8/x2 masterwork morningstar) or +1 ranged (1d8/19-20 light crossbow); Full Atk +2 melee (1d8/x2 masterwork morningstar) or +1 ranged (1d8/19-20 light crossbow); SA rebuke undead 3/day; SQ Insanity; AL CE; SV Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +5; Str 10, Dex 11, Con 14, Int 9, Wis 15, Cha 10.
Skills and Feats: Concentration +7, Knowledge (Religion) +4, Listen +4, Spot +4; Alertness, Lightning Reflexes
Insanity (Ex): Insanity score 1. Wis 16 for bonus spells and DCs; Wis 14 for all other Wis-based checks.
Cleric Spells Prepared (4/4; save DC 13 +spell level): 0-detect magic, light, read magic, resistance; 1st-bless, command, doom, protection from good*
*Domain spell. Domains: Air (turn or destroy air creatures, rebuke or command air creatures); Evil (cast Evil spells at 3rd level)
Possessions: Half plate, heavy steel shield, masterwork morningstar, light crossbow, 10 bolts, ochre robes, journal, potion of cure moderate wounds, scroll of bless and cure light wounds, 12 gp, 20 sp, holy symbol (black iron triangle with an inverted yellow Y)
Geynor Ton is typically found in the Moathouse, area 32A (Page 24).
Random Favor has been renamed to Lesser Confusion and exists as a bard spell only in 3.5E.
As mentioned in the errata Geynor had 5 skill points left. I gave him 5 ranks in Knowledge (religion), which gives him a +2 bonus on his turning check results. Thought this was a nice opportunity to demonstrate this new aspect of the rules.
I replaced random favor with doom, but that’s as good as any other spell.

Re: Geynor Ton
Daeinar, fairly good...I only see one error.
The "notes" should appear after the location paragraph, inside the quoteblock, and the comments (in orange) after that.
Other than that, great job (and good choices).

Wouldn't it be better to start a threat for each section and then when the process is finished make one sticky threat out of it or better a document to be placed on somebodies internet page?

Once actual work commences, I imagine that that's exactly waht the section leads will do: So Andorax will make one, Inf2K or I will make one, etc. As I imagine those threads will be the equivalent of really messy brain-storming sessions, everyone can post them, I think. Conclusions will, as agreed, be compiled by the section leads.

Re: Geynor Ton
Doesn't anyone think that some of the clerics (if not all of them) should be using 'smaller' (fill in correct 3.5e term) shields or even bucklers so they can cast their spells without having to put their weapons away? {Note small shields allow one to hold the weapon in the shielded hand, and even though it wouldn't be usable or ready it shouldn't take a move action to switch hands. Same goes for a buckler and I contrary to the Sage I know many people who play you can use a buckler hand to fulfill the somatic component, thus allowing the cleric to remain armed while casting}
Once upon a time ago this was brought up but no true consensus was achieved and I was wondering if the 3.5e rules had anything more or different to say on the matter and if so should you(we?) consider changing some of the shields.

Re: shields
Taxman, that's a good point, but it's merely a tactical decision for each cleric. In the alternate campaign, I have a 9th level cleric who wields a large shield. I do not draw my weapon until I plan to use it, but if I later need to cast I either drop it (free action) or sheath it (5ft stepping away if possible). It requires a little bit of time, but is otherwise not that big of a problem.
Alternatively, feel free to have the cleric not ready his shield, and use one hand to wield the weapon and the other to have available for spells. I don't, however, think we should change the shields to small. I don't have the darn books yet, so I can't comment on 3.5e. Arggh.

Re: shields
Another shield issue is if we convert large steel shields to tower shields for fighters. With the new tower shield description and stats, large shields are a poor choice for fighters who automatically have proficiency.

Re: shields
Before you make that assumption, I would first take a good look at their dexterity, strength and task within the temple. Tower shields might seem quite good, but with a max dexterity of +2, a -2 on attack rolls and a weight of 45 lbs. I can imagine some fighters having trouble using the shields effectively. It can also not be used for shield bashes, but I don't think many fighters within this scenario are specialized in that type of combat.

Re: shields
I concur. Not only are Heavy Shields more "consistant" than Tower Shields, they also prevent the problem of these fighters, who ALREADY have a hard time hitting, being -2 still further worse off.
IMC, AC was less of a problem for the grunt fighters than actually hitting was.

Skills and Feats: Concentration +3, Hide -4*, Listen +4, Knowlegde (Religion) +0, Listen +2; Multiattack, Weapon Focus (Morningstar), Weapon Focus (Javelin)
*+4 bonus on Hide checks in rocky or subterranean settings
Stench (Ex): When a troglodyte is angry or frightened, it secretes an oily, musklike chemical that nearly every form of animal life finds offensive. All living creatures (except troglodytes) within 30 feet of a troglodyte must succeed on a DC 13 Fortitude save or be sickened for 10 rounds. The Save DC is Constitution-based. Creatures that successfully save cannot be affected by the same troglodyte’s stench for 24 hours. A delay poison or neutralize poison spell removes the effect from the sickened creature. Creatures with immunity to poison are unaffected, and creatures resistant to poison receive their normal bonus on their saving throws.
Insanity (Ex): Insanity score 1. Wis 13 for bonus spells and DCs; Wis 11 for all other Wis-based checks.
Cleric Spells Prepared (4/4; save DC 11 +spell level): 0-detect magic, light, read magic, resistance; 1st-doom, obscuring mist, protection from good*, summon monster I
*Domain spell. Domains: Chaos (cast Chaos spells at 3rd level); Evil (cast Evil spells at 3rd level)
Possessions: Half plate, heavy steel shield, masterwork morningstar, light crossbow, 10 bolts, curved knife, black robes, journal, potion of cure moderate wounds, potion of levitate, cloak of resistance +1, 8 gp, 12 sp, holy symbol (obex)
Ysslansh is typically found in the Moathouse, area 32A (Page 24).
Random Favor has been renamed to Lesser Confusion and exists as a bard spell only in 3.5E.
Ysslansh is listed with the Weapon Focus (Javelin) feat, but he does not carry any (but a crossbow). Should one change one or the other?
He also has Fort +9 in the Original Module, and I couldn’t find any Errata on that. But AFAIK it should only be +8. (+3 Clr, +3 HD, +2 Con)
I had to rework the skills, they confused me a bit. Ysslansh now gets 5 skill points for being a trog, and 2 for being a cleric. Putting 1 of the cleric sp each into concentration and knowledge (religion), that leaves 5 SP for Hide and Listen as class skills. I opted for 4 in Listen and 1 in Hide, which brings his Hide modifier to -4 (1-7-2+4).
In the end, I found out that everything works out fine if you just subtract 1 SP. Just what happens when you convert from 3.0 to 3.5.
I replaced random favor with doom, but that’s as good as any other spell.

Hurry up guys, you're falling behind.
Quote: Page 167
Garrik: Gnoll Rgr 2; CR 3; Medium humanoid (Gnoll); HD 4d8+8; hp 26; Init +1; Spd 30 ft.; AC 16, touch 11, flat-footed 16; Base Atk +3; Grp +5; Atk +6 melee (1d8+2/x2 masterwork longsword) or +6 melee (1d8+2/x2 masterwork longsword) or + 4 ranged (1d6/x3 shortbow) ; Full Atk +6 melee (1d8+1/x2 masterwork longsword) or +4 melee (1d8+2/x2 masterwork longsword) and +4 melee (1d6+1/x2 masterwork shortsword) or +1 ranged (1d6/x3 shortbow); SA - ; SQ darkvision 60’, favored enemy humans +2; AL NE; SV Fort +7, Ref +4, Will +0; Str 15, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 9, Wis 10, Cha 9.
Skills and Feats: Listen +5, Spot +5, Survival +5; Power Attack, Quick Draw, Track
Combat Style(Ex): Garrik has selected two-weapon combat. He gains the two-weapon fighting feat wihtout the normal prerequisites.
Possessions: +1 studded leather, brooch of shielding, masterwork longsword, masterwork short sword, shortbow, 20 arrows.
Garrik is typically found in the Moathouse, area 29 (Page 24).
It occurs to me wizards has finally decided to subsume hit dice of the same size (here: Gnoll and Ranger) into one entry.
Skillpoints: I don’t know how Monte calculated them back then, but here’s the new breakdown: Gnoll: 5x1 = 5, Ranger 2x5 = 10. Since Spot and Listen were at +5 already, Survival fits in here just fine.
Apart from that: Converting a higher level Ranger will be messy. And these conversions take way to much time.

Re: Garrik
It might be a better idea to start a new and different threat for each part of the adventure that gets converted instead of posting them in this one, like me and Delgar did. That way the discussion remains focussed and easier to follow. This is especially true if discussion start about the conversions.
As for your conversion of Garrik, he does not have a masterwork morning star
And I do agree, converting takes a lot of time as I already noted in the conversion of those half-dragon tyranosaurusses
