Re: Garrik
Some of us don't have our 3.5 books yet (glares menacingly at Amazon.com).

Conversion
I would like to get in on this, as I will be converting my campaign slowly to 3.5. The problem is that due to the expense of the books, I have to buy them one at a time. Right now I have the DMG. I will probably get the PHB in the near future. I would be interested in doing some work on the CRM or the Fanes because I have already played through the moathouse, the ruined temple, and Nulb.

What kind of work could I do with the DMG to help in the process? I am about to set my party against the main entrance. Could I work on those dudes without the PHB, or is it essential? If there is nothing I can do yet, I will help in the future, as I purchase the books.

Re: Conversion
Hi guys,

To make things clear, could someone (moderator) post a sticky master 3.5 conversion thread.

The first post should be updated as new threads are started concerning various sections of the module, so there is a master list of links to threads on portions of the module.

This will be very useful for me, and I'd be interested in contributing as well, once I make time to start my conversion AND figure out which sections need the most help right now.

Warren

Re: Conversion
Offgall Fizziwigg, I don't know of anything offhand that you can do to help that only involves the DMG. You might try taking a stab at 3.5ing the "New Items" appendix.

Once you have the PHB, there's plenty of NPCs that aren't monstrous and could use your efforts.

WarrenWright, I can't really speak for the other section leads, but if I hadn't hard antying in a day or two, I'd suggest explicitly volunteering for a chunk or two of the CRM and diving right in. That seems to be the heaviest section. As always, nit-picking other parts and double-checking others' work is appreciated as well.

As for a sticky master thread...that's out of my hands. I think there's a certain amount of reluctance to add yet another sticky to the forum...it's already a bit top-heavy.

Re: Conversion
While I'm not a mod(e), I agree with Andorax on teh sticky topic-thing. Ideally, all conversion threadds should see some fairly heavy activity once the ball gets rolling, thereby eliminating or reducing the need for the topic to be sticky.

I disagree; the NBC is already done, and I'd expect to see that thread get pretty stagnant, and thus difficult to locate as peoples' campaigns get to that area and they need to find the conversion info.

However, it doesn't need to be a sticky thread; we could just have a web page somewhere with links to all the conversion threads. Zans For Cans' site seems like the ideal place, since we've all got it bookmarked already, don't we? Zans, would that be ok?

When all is said and done (which, I hope, won't be *too* long), the whole kit & kaboodle will be assembled together in a PDF file for easy download/print/use.

Still, it wouldn't hurt to have a central location to link to all of the work threads.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
One question, were we (CC, Andorax, and I) supposed to copy all of the work to this thread in our first posts? I doubt it as it won't fit. Just wondering.

PS I finally got my books and will be done reading them all this week and will start conversion myself. Offgall (and others), if you're reading this, IMO without all three books it would be best at this point to review the work that people have done and offer suggestions. Use what book(s) you do have (or the SRD) to review techinically what's written, but you should be able to at least offer comments on the suggested changes even with no books.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
As has been suggested elsewhere, there should probably be separate threads for each piece and part. As such, I wouldn't recommend trying to copy the final work to the initial posts...just the management, and possably the links to the threads that have discussion going on in them.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
I guess I am going to have to bow out of the conversion. I am not going to buy the PHB. I think it is a waste of money. The DMG and the MM are both great, but the PHB is not. I will make comments from the peanut gallery. Hopefully there will be a list somewhere of all the technical changes in the PHB so I can convert some. But until then, I think the book is nearly the same and not worth my $30. Sorry guys.

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
From what I've seen so far, I would tend to disagree with you. Combat's been cleaned up a lot, weapons are handled differently...more feats, some skill changes, a lot of subtle changes in spells, and the classes themselves have undergone some revision...some of which is needed to work with 3.5 DMG and MM (such as the Monk's new Ki Strike and 3.5 Damage Reduction)

Still, the decision is up to you. If you do want to keep lending a hand, you might consider taking a look at this:

Re: 3.5E Conversion, Section 1 Notes and Assignments
I'll be happy to put a page up on my site to pull together all the work threads. It might be nice to have a indication of progress, etc. I'll try to get it together by tonight.

I have my books now, but I'm going to try to pull together the last three session logs of my campaign before pitching in. Like the errata, I think I'd like to do careful second passes on completed work at first since I'll disappear for a while in a few weeks here.

After things settle down at home, I'll try to start pulling together the start of a printable version from what's been finished by then. The pace is looking pretty good to me :) Great job!

Want some work!!
hello guys,

if you need me to do some 3.5 conversation work, then assign me a place (CRM favoured).

i have plenty of time free...

last but not least i`m running my RttToEE- campaign for the first time, so if some of my suggestions (of spell replacement and so on) are bad, i rely on your advice...

Seeing as nobody is signed up for the earth temple I'll give it a whirl. My players have bested most of it, but it'll be nice to have the rest converted.

OK, I have a page up now here:

zans.clanplaid.net/v35/

Let me know if I'm missing something or if there is more that could be useful on that page.

Let us know which section you want, if you have a specific choice, or I can assign you to a section in the CRM.

"...the NBC is already done,..."
I marked the area done in fuchsia. Dunno if that's appropriate, but I thought progress of some sort would be useful.

Welcome aboard! With all your spare time, I figure you can handle the Fire Temple. Enjoy! :)

I've assigned myself to some of the preliminary stuff.
You have been updated.

Re: v35 collection
ZansForCans, looking over my Recovered Temple NPCs, commented that perhaps we shouldn't list spells like Confusion, Lesser with their comma, using either "Lesser Confusion" or Confusion (Lesser), or somesuch. It does make it a bit harder to read the stablock:

1st--bane, bless, confusion, lesser*, inflict light wounds...

Myself, I'm inclined to stick to the spell's actual name by the book unless and until I see what WotC has to say about it in a WotC Statblock (do any of the sample DMG NPC Spellcasters have a lesser, greater, or mass something?)

Opinions?

Well, digging through the NPC descriptions in the DMG has the Bard's 5th level spell listed as "greater dispel magic" instead of "dispel magic, greater."

Re: v35 collection
I think they should be like "lesser confusion". The PHB does have a listing for "Lesser..." and "Greater..." so it is fine.

Ah, didn't bother to check that I2k! :)

I vote for the reversed (forward?) naming then since there is an obvious cross-reference in the PHB and SRD (just checked there too).
