Hommlet Ramifications
So, the party spent the last session in Hommlet, chatting to a few people in private about what is going on in the area. The last person they spoke to was Elmo. They have only been in the town a day and have been extremely careful about who they tell what. But they told Elmo and he of course will tell Jaroo.

The group headed out for the moathouse at first light and so when they left Jaroo didn't know and Chat had found nothing out either. But Jaroo does know now and can alert the cult.

So, by the time the party arrive at the moathouse the first time, the cult back in town knows that some adventurers are sneaking around. They also know that the wizard Spugnoir has gone missing around that area - and Dunrat probably assumes Spugnoir bumped into the cult and was dealt with.

So, what does the cult do now? Chat's job was to stop the party going to the moathouse and he's too late for that. He could try and follow them but he'll probably die against the dragon if he does that - the dragon can of course sense him invisible. But the cult doesn't know the dragon is there so maybe they send him anyway? The party could return from their first foray into the moathouse dungeons to find Big U snacking on the assassin. :D Or perhaps Chat goes to the moathouse and sees the dragon and returns back to Hommlet and alerts Dunrat?

Anyone have any thoughts on the ramifications of telling Elmo that they are going to the moathouse?

I would have Chat go to the moathouse post-haste and try to beat the PCs there in order to warn the people there that the adventurers are coming. So yes he will probably have a little run in with Utreshimon, but he should probably flee immediately as he sees the dragon, and has a good chance of surviving.

If he survives, I think he would wait and see what happened between the PCs and the dragon. If the PCs lose go back to Hommlet and report. If the PCs win, turn invisible and head to the front room with the artifacts to warn them. Then try to ambush the PCs as they head down the stairs.

Ah, but IMC the PCs parleyed with Big U and have set off into the dungeons whilst the dragon is still in the main moathouse.

Seeing as Big U can detect invis, there is no way for Chat to get past him and into the moathouse dungeons where the PCs are...
