Fire Temple: The pushover|
So, a couple games ago, my party made it to the Fire Temple. And just demolished it. The made it out with a few scratches, and a cohort with a missing level from the altar. This, after going in with almost all of their spells used up.
And, the temple was even prepared for them. Most of the high level level npcs in the area were there and buffed. (The party made a lot of noise, then waited around...)
How'd they do this, you ask?
Cleric of Joramy with the fire domain. A couple turn checks and half the room was commanded or cowering in fear. A lucky silence at the cleric and her and the sorcerer who were on the altar were now useless. By the time the egg popped out the salamanders, they were all that was left.
Salamander Blackguards should never cower.
Next: Air Temple.

Re: Fire Temple: The pushover|
I am firmly convinced that one of the flaws with the whole "elemental domain can turn element" is that nowhere in the elemental creatures is there a basis for them to have Turn Resistance, while you see it regularly on undead that are supposed to be more powerful than just their HD.
I wouldn't do this with too heavy a hand, but I would consider giving some elemental creatures, as appropriate, either +2 or +4 turn resistance.
Other than that, don't sweat it too much...a Fire Priest *should* do well in the Fire Temple. Let's see him try to turn Imix
"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"
