Organization Chart...
My players have just explored the moathouse. Next session, they will either attack the old temple or attack the flour mill. After that, they will probably head to Rastor and start exploring the CRM. Right now, I'm preparing this part of the adventure, just to be ahead of my players.
I just installed microsoft visio on my notebook and I'm trying to get a nice "organization chart" of the tharizdun cult. However, this is a pretty complicated task. Is there anyone out there who managed to make a nice chart? I started a chart (saved it as a jpg) at
www.student.tue.nl/H/e.j.a.manders/chart.jpg
This chart however is only the beginning. Is this correct, so far? I'll try to complete it within the next few days. However, I hope some of you guys have done some of this work already and are willing to share it with me.
www.student.tue/H/e.j.a.manders is my campaign site although only my players use it for now. Feel free to check it out. I can't put a link to the jpg on the site because my players might spot it. Right now, we are working on a new layout. When that's finished, I'll register a nice domain name, but for now it'll do....

Re: Organization Chart...
Oke... I've altered the chart a little. I think it's already quite handy, however there should still be plenty of errors in it. I didn't realise that is had become this big. It's over 500kb, so it's quite large.
Main reason for me to create something like this is that it creates a nice overview. It shows clearly which commander has control over which NPC's and troops in which sector. This way it becomes easy to shift troops to other locations. It also shows clearly which factions are the most powerful and why...
When you follow this link:
www.student.tue.nl/H/e.j....chart.html
you should be able to view the jpg or download it as a zip-file. If this doesn't work, give me a sign and I will try to fix it..

Re: Organization Chart...
Re-save it as a PNG. JPEG compresses very poorly with text and charts.

Re: Organization Chart...
That's a great trick. I never even heard of the PNG format, but indeed it's only (?) 90kb Big. Added the link. I hope you'll be able to read everything. The drawing is however still quite large and won't fit A4-format. I should be able to change that however by regrouping and moving some blocks. I don't know if I'll be able to do this today....
Is everything clear and readable???

Re: Organization Chart...
Looks good except that the font is awfully small. I printed it out on 11x17 and the text is somewhat blurry. There's a lot of whitespace, so you should work out a view that can use that whitespace.
Minor comments:
- Tac is spelled with a 'c' (unless you're Polish, yes?)
- The Water Temple has chuuls, not ghuuls; don't like 'c' do you?
- Virith has two 'i's
- You are missing some elements of the ToAC in Rastor (Tal)
- There are two iron golems in the Recovered Temple, right?
- take the shadowing off the asterisk note text
- The Second is only DD2 I thought
When you're done, post it on ZansForCans's site. There, you'll also find a file called NpcRelationsImportant.wmf that has an alternate representation.

Re: Organization Chart...
Yes, I already saw that the font was very small... I will change this tomorrow...
No, I'm not polish but dutch....
The shadowing was already removed... I'll upload the latest version tomorrow...
I will change all the minor things. I made the file in an hour this afternoon and it's 35 degrees celsius over here (!!!!). I can't remember the last time it was this hot...
Anyway, thanx for your opinion. I appreciate it....

Re: Organization Chart...
I made a few changes to the chart and updated the link (see above). It should fit a A3-format page.
(edit also added a DM's only section to the website, so it should also be available there....)
I hope you guys will find it useful. I'm considering adding locations to the names....
A few questions though...
Where is the excavation crew when the cult hasn't started exploring the recovered temple yet? It's quite a large group?
Is there a change Hedrack will use the 80(!!!!) spidereaters/riders and the 8 sorcerers from the lightning towers? This is a very large and powerful group. The towers function on their own so in case of an emergency, the group could be used to attack intruders (or rastor/hommlet).
Whenever the lightning tower fires a lightning blast, the shockers lose hitpoints. Can they be replaced?

Re: Organization Chart...
The excavation crew probably doesn't "exist" yet as a cohesive unit. If you decide to build it up little by little, chances are the first to "arrive" will be the Second, the leader of the operation. The next to arrive will be Falrinth and his buddy Smigmal. I view Falrinth as the "manager". Falrinth then brings in Kex to start digging and then brings in the others for protection. All this while the Second starts gathering Doomdreamers, each of which is probably a High Priest(ess) from a hidden Temple of Tharizdun around the world. With that in mind, if you have a well thought out world, each doomdreamer could be from a different nation, from far away.
The spider eaters et all would stay at the ToAC for protection of the Fanes, particularly the Inner Fane. The Triad certainly doesn't want to relinquish the Black Spike to intruders. The spider eaters and sorcerers are still valuable. Hedrack is too smart to leave the defense of the Inner Fane to mere constructs. The Triad thinks similarly, thus the purpose of the t-rexes and Tychon.
As for attacking Rastor/Hommlet, that would put the cult way out in the open and should only be used in dire emergencies. Don't do it lightly because then you will have to consider the ramifications of involvement with other powerful forces in the world or why they didn't get involved.

Re: Organization Chart...
thanx infiniti,
Tomorrow, I will check once more for small errors. After that, I will sent the file to the zansforcans website. I have to check the numbers of all the lower "footsoldiers", because I only checked those briefly. If anyone has other comments/errors, I will be happy to correct these.
Until I post the file at the zansforcans archive, it's available at
www.student.tue.nl/H/e.j.a.manders/
check the DM's only section and you'll be able to download it....

Re: Organization Chart...
Again, I altered the organization chart. Yesterday, I removed a (pretty large) number of errors. There will probably still be some left though . Also I added the original location from the module to every NPC. This makes it even easier to locate troops and relocate them .
I've noticed that a lot of people downloaded the file. I hope some of you will be able to give me some feedback....
Again, you'll find the file in the DM's only section
