Fire Temple going Badly
Okay, my last session had to wrap up in the middle of the fight with Tessimon. I had her in the temple, but she was alone. She was floating on the platform. My party broke out the fly spells (which I didn't realize they had memorized . . .), and put the pain on her.
I want to have some reinforcments show up, and I was thinking of bringing Firre in to help out, but I'm thinking he won't be enough by himself, and grunts aren't even speed bumps for this group anymore.
SO . . . any suggestions on how to bring a bit of challenge back into this thing? I mean, it's the most powerful temple in the complex after all. . .

First, remember that (although they are grunts) there are burning skeletons in the nitch to the right.
Second, do have Firre take notice of the noise.
Third, get Tessimon out where she has a chance to recover and prepare. My advice? Fly the platform up into the ceiling nitche! It fits pretty closely, so it should be impossible for any PC not already ON the platform to be able to get at her in the hidey-hole.
Alternately, if you're desperate enough (and low enough down), jump into the firey pit! Fall damage is better than being obliterated by goodey-goodey PCs, the Unhallow/Pro from Fire should ward you from being crisped down there, and you can once again use the flames for cover to heal up and call for reinforcements.
Last, if you have a chance (and the time), do the altar-thingy and summon yourself up some Salamanders.

Ermmm... Speed-load a sound burst to alert the grunts and the sorcerer to the north.
That's just about the only thing I can add to Andorax' excellent suggestions. And the reminder that my group waltzed through the Fire Temple ony to get into the fight of their lives at the water temple because the Temple of Fire got them cocky.

Andorax (yet again) makes excellent suggestions. If you really want to try something off the wall, though, have Chymon make a surprise inspection (reduced). Have her stick around long enough only to berate Tessimon (letting Tessimon buff/heal), weaken the party slightly (maybe 1 breath) and then leave. Dunno how this would fly in your campaign though. Alternatively, for additional enjoyment, say a fire elemental (greater?) lives in the fire.

The best option as Andorax says is to have her raise the platform into the ceiling, then she can buff and wait for reinforcements to enter.
Ok some other points...
* If there are just one or two flyers, she should cast dispel magic on them as it says in her tactics section.
* If the PCs are already swarming all over the platform, have her LOWER it into the flames. Unless they have protection from fire or fly out of range they will have to deal with the fire damage. You could also legitimately rule that the flames and the heat bluring the air gives Tessimon some concealment, which will help protect her, and most importantly will make her immune to sneak attacks.
* Probably the first action, again if she is swarmed, cast Sanctuary... With her high saves that should take a few PCs out of the fight.
* Rule that the candelabras were already lit while she was worshiping, that would allow her to immediately move and beat the drum. Thus the eye would be making an appearance in a few short rounds.
* Reinforcements: Which way did the players come and who is still alive? Yes you could have Firre come in almost immediately since his bedroom is so close. Use the flaming skeletons, don't forget about their damage resistance to non bashing weapons like I almost did (duh). Zert wanders the complex so he can also legitimately show up immediately. The salamanders and the hell hound from the room immediately north are also very close.
Give more details on the exact situation and I may be able to give better advice.

Details.
The have waltzed through up to this point, taking out Zert and the Salamander Blackguard with little to no trouble. They entered through the rast chamber, and the wizard cast fly on the ftr/clc who flew over with the gnome rogue on his back. The fighter/bard flew across on her own, and they are all standing on the platform surrounding Tessy. She's now down into the bonus HP she got from her buffs.
My initial plan of action was to have her ride the platform into the ceiling to heal, but they are all with her. She did get a good flamestrike off, causing some tasty damage to four of the party. I'l probably have Firre, the skellys, and a hell-hound come in, and the idea of a big bad elemental in the pit has merit. I probably won't bring Chymon is, since it smacks of Deus Ex Machina. If she wasn't surrounded and low on HP, she'd bang the drum. She may anyway as a final 'f- you' gesture. Maybe a dispel magic area effect to diable those fly spells and drop the platform into the fire. THAT would be nasty. Hmmmm . . .

Hmmm if you really feel you made a mistake and want to give her an escape route, give her a single scroll of Word of Recall (probably convert one of her other scrolls to this) and have her teleport out.
I'm still thinking of other options. Do you think Sanctuary would help? She should be able to get off a lower platform command as a free action *and* cast Sanctuary. If reinforcements are pulling into the room she could go on full defense?
Did the fights with Zert and Skassik not alert anyone? You mentioned she has Endurance up, what other buffs?

All the listed ones, which I can't remember right now since I don't have my module. I think they included divine might and magic vestment and a couple others. They pounded on the doors for a bit before remembering the funny note they found in the guard room, and one of them speaks Ignan, so they got the door opened, but Tessimon was waiting. I think this would have given her plenty of time to light the candles, as well. I don't think I was specific on the description, so I could probably get away with it without seeming like I'm trying to coddle my bad guys. If not, I can always have the platform descend into the flames and have the candles light automatically at that point, which could be cool.
Sanctuary seems like a good plan, though, especially when Firre and few other show up and put the hurt down on the two mages by the door.
