Underwater combat/actions
Hi all,

My campaign is moving along slowly but surely. Yesterday i had put the Ghast in area 31 of the MH underwater (ie: the PCs took too long, so the baddies got away but not before plugging the pool back to its original state).

I conducted combat underwater, but i found the rules SEVERLY lacking in this area. Does anyone know where i can find good rules for underwater combat?

Thanks

If you don't have 3.5, the Caves of Ancient Secrets web enhancement has rules for underwater combat.

Infiniti2000,

Seen it. :) But i have one question about the last paragraph -- it states:

"Holding Your Breath: Any character can hold his breath for a number of rounds equal to twice his Constitution score. After this period of time, the character must make a Constitution check (DC 10) every round in order to continue holding his breath. Each round, the DC increases by 1. When the character finally fails his Constitution check, he begins to drown. In the first round, he falls unconscious (0 hp). In the following round, he drops to –1 hit points and is dying. In the third round, he drowns. Vigorous activity, such as fighting, strains the character, reducing the time a character can hold his breath to a number of rounds equal to twice his Constitution score."

Should the last sentence not read:

"Vigorous activity, such as fighting, strains the character, reducing the time a character can hold his breath to a number of rounds equal to HALF his Constitution score." and not TWICE as the 1st sentence states...

Only a thought... :)

Actually, it should probably be minus the "twice" part. So, vigorous activity should be equal to the Con score. I can see half of it though, realistically speaking, but not heroically speaking. Drowning is very deadly though, so I'd give them somewhat of a break there. I don't have my 3.5 DMG with me, so I cannot tell you what it says there for comparison.

Sean K. Reynold's has more stuff on Spellcasting Underwater. If you have any 1e stuff, you might find more information in either the DMG, Wilderness SG, or Dungeoneer's SG.

That last sentence about Vigorous activity does not appear in the 3.5 SRD.
