Original Temple of Elemental Evil T1-4 converted for 3.5
Hey gang,

Looks like someone named Majin has done the exhausting work of updating the stats from the original Temple of Elemental Evil to 3.5. You can find the Word document over here in the ENWorld Conversion Library.

-Thrommel, who cautions you about being too ruthless with that CR 32 Zuggtmoy.

Re: Original Temple of Elemental Evil T1-4 converted for 3.5
I'm wondering if the author considered that 3.5's levels aren't quite the same as 1E's.

Really, this module is supposed to be for low-level PCs (at least, initially)...yet the two rogues running the trading post are a Rogue 10 and a Rogue 5/Assassin 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't these two be able to slaughter the PCs if they start acting suspicious?

Also...a quick look at Lareth's stats. Obviously, no concern for RttToEE here. Were those his actual stats from the original?

Anyone who wants to run this with an eye to prequiling RttToEE for a "younger generation" is going to have some serious homework to do. I compliment the effort the author put in here...it was a LOT of work. However, I'm sorely concerned that the translation from 1E was a bit *too* literal, and didn't adjust for the fact that 1E/2E didn't have CRs, or appropriate guidelines for an encounter for PCs of the level in question. Perhaps, a bit freer hand in adjusting encounters, leveling NPCs, and so forth would have been in order.

Room 145?

Room 326?

Just a caution...1E/2E adventures had some pretty bad balance issues in them. Use this with caution. Majin should be commended for having done some great work here, but a too-literal translation of the origional could prove unplayable.

I believe that you have to convert the monster's as written in the original adventure and aren't allowed to try to "scale" it properly, according to the WotC policy on conversions...

Re: Wizard'sPolicy
here's a thought - soneone out there has already done a 3.5 conversion for this module - including the work to make it a good 3.5 module (CR's appropriate and so on) they have even consulted with Gary Gygax to make sure they have done the right thing with a few conversions (to keep it how he imagined it..)

Who you may ask? Trokia! Of course the one down side is you have to buy the game that is due for release tommorow :/ but it will be fun!

This slobbering fanboy is paying the outrageous sum of $25 shipping to get it in 3 to 5 business days...

That is correct. I have found the 1e adventures to be very good for large parties. I ran the Slavers series with 8 players and everything went quite well.

And I will reinterate...great work on the part of the conversion author, but USE with caution.

Nothing stops a DM from making post-conversion edits to bring the adventure into the realm of reason.
