Druniazth and Nizar Drav'va
In Dragon #294 on page 96 there is a description od a sword named Druniazth. I was wondering if anyone has read about it or not. If so, have you been able to incorporate it and it's current possesor, Nizar Drav'va into your campaign?

I've never even heard of it. I'm curious, though, does this has some relevance to RttToEE or Greyhawk? I'd be more interested if it did. Are you thinking of replacing an NPC with Nizar Drav'va (sounds almost Russian)?

druniazth
it's a +5 frost bastard sword of wounding that was created by the doomdreamers. when struck with the sword the victim must make a will save DC33. success = cold chills that result in -2 dex and -4 to attack, skills, and ability checks for 1 hour. fail = catatonic slumber for 1d6 weeks. this slumber is filled with nightmares of the dark ones return. upon waking the victim is fatigued. these nightmares last for life or until a victim gets a wish or miricle cast on him to remove the effect. non evil weilders suffer -4 levels and after 1d4 weeks of contact the DM rolls to see if the weilders alignment changes to NE. only a wish or miricle can reverse this change. the sword will not allow the weilder to attack a victim that is in a slumber since it wants to spread the servitude of tharizdun.

the sword was last seen in the hands of a half elf on his way to the kron hills for reasons not even he could explain.

As the creator of Druniazth, I'd be interested to hear if you've added it into your RttToEE campaigns at all. I wrote the Kron Hills reference as a possible lead-in/hook for the Temple of All Consumption.

Market price?
Woo! Have you got the market price of the item handy there somewhere? At first glance, the power level of Druniazth seems to require that it be an Inner Fane / Recovered Temple item at least...

... although since I'm trying to figure out how to tie a quest in for Fragarach post-Return, it would be a suitable item for one of the villains... :)

Re: Market price?
I considered trying to find a way to incorporate it into my game, but that DC 33 Will save was a deal breaker.

My fighters were already complaining about the high save DC's of the doomdreamers, I didn't think at 11th or 12th level it was fair to tell them they had to make a DC 33 Will save or fall into a coma for 1d6 weeks.

It's a cool item, and Tharizdun's avatar in that same issue was pretty cool as well.

Neither was particularly appropriate to drop in, given the power levels I had going in my RttToEE game, IMO.

With some dedicated effort, a person could probably make it work. Or - as Caedrel pointed out - it's great for a follow-up adventure later in the campaign.

-Thrommel, who notes that this party goes up to 11.

Re: using Druniazth
i've planned to use Druniazth in my campaign but so far my players haven't gotten far enough to encounter it. here's how i used it:

the carrier of the sword makes his way to the kron hills. in the kron hills he meets a cleric of tharizdun that is searching for the champion of tharizdun. (he thinks lareth isn't the real champion) the cleric notices the sword as an artifact of tharizdun and thinks that whoever the weilder is is the true champion. the cleric brings him back to the temple but the both of them are slain by the doomdreamers (the cleric for "blasphemy" and the other just for his sword). after this the sword is given to lareth the beautiful (i want lareth to be more independantly capable near the end of the campaign). with the sword, lareth goes into the fire node to wait until the final ceremony is ready. also, some spies/assassins of iuz know that lareth has the sword. they saw the sword used on one of their allys in the kron hills and they plan on taking the sword and destroying it. but as i said my players haven't encountered any of the evidence to this yet.

Are you going to give Lareth a level of fighter or is he gonna fight sans proficiency?

Caedrel--

As I created Druniazth as an artifact (well, a relic really, but I suppose those don't exist as such any longer ;) ), I didn't add up its powers to create a market price for the article.

Thrommel---

The DC save is steep, yes, so using it for higher-level PCs and/or a side-track after RttToEE is done would work (perhaps in conjunction with a beefed-up 3e-conversion of WG4 Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun).

lareth
i actually made several versions of lareth the beautiful to use, depending on the level of the party. for the highest level progression i just gave him the feat martial weapon prof: b-sword.

as for the high dc: remember that the sword was created by doomdreamers and doomdreamers have high dc's for everything anyway.
