Started the rtttoee last sunday
Well, I started running what I hope to be the best campaign I've ever DM`d last Sunday.

Only half of my group (3) was there last session, a dwarven barbarian (4), human fighter (4), and human sorcerer (3); They arrived in Homlet to deliver components to Spugnoir, and left town about 10 minutes after they delivered the package to find Renee's father.

My players took care of the big U without much of a problem (I gave him a listen check to hear the approaching party and prepare for battle but he rolled a one so they caught him in the Great Hall, but didn't do any real damage to him before he got out into the open. (btw, how tall is the tower that he went to for his breath weapon when injured, I said 10 feet, like the walls) the human fighter lept 10 ft, landing on the tower to finish him. They are now ready to go into the moathouse dungeon.

anyway, we all enjoyed it and cant wait to get started. Anyone know where I can download more player handouts and other stuff?

thanks for listening, and I await your tips and guidance.

Welcome to the RttToEE forum! The tower can be as tall as you want (I'd say at least 20ft however, otherwise it's not a tower but a wall). Most of the walls will be 10-14ft high, which is the standard height for a 'level' in any building. In either case, how in the world could someone jump up 10ft? I assume he had magical help.

Make sure you read the FAQ and the BoB. The FAQ contains some links to people's websites. The most important one (IMO) is ZansForCans's website.

I had the tower 10 feet, less of a tower, more of a corner. He didn't have magical help, but rolled a natural 20. We double skill bonuses on a 20 and halve them on a 1, so his jump total was 52 making a running high jump of 13 feet (we are using 3.5 jump skills cause we found it doesn't take 30 minutes to figure out how good your jump is with it). I didn't mind as a DM, they loved it as players, so it went good.

thanks for the links, ive read a bit of the FAQ, ill check the others out as well.

One more thing, you guys talk about taking over a year to go through the entire thing (which is awesome in itself), how long are your average sessions?

That's all that matters! I was just curious, but the double on a 20 rule seems pretty fun.

My group plays just about every Saturday night from about 7:30 to 12:30, so about 5 hours. We rotate DMs, though, so we took about a 3 month break. Tonight will be the 30th session (yes, I'm a few behind in my logs, if you read them).

Re: Started the rtttoee last sunday
We ran every third Sunday with some cancellations due to illness and other RL concerns. I think RttToEE was part of the campaign for 2 years, including a side adventure with Speaker in Dreams and the Cradle of Madness (Dungeon adventure). We played 25 sessions in RttToEE and 7 sessions with Speaker and Cradle, meaning a total of 32 sessions. Each session lasted from 1 pm to 9 pm, including a one-and-a-half hour dining break. So at 6-7 hours of solid gaming, it took us 162,5 hours to play through Hommlet, the Old Temple, Rastor, half of the CRM, the Outer Fane, and the Recovered Temple.
