Not to be lame or anything towards my players
Not be lame but the DMg states that certain good creatures leave good aura behind.
Now IMC, there is this goody goody cleric, a Trumpet Archon!! and soon a new wizard/Sentinel of Bharrai (BoED).
Now all this goodness is going to leave an Good aura lingering for at least 3 days!

Is it lame to track them by this or is illegit?

It is perfectly legit and it is definitely not lame. If your players are able to take advantage of the BoED, then by all means use it to your advantage. However, you will still need to have the bad guys know detect good AND to know enough to cast it. As long as you have that covered, then go ahead. However, I'd suggest the bad guys have a more mundane backup plan.

Lol, the back-up plan is easy. They make enough noise to give the bad guys a full day worth of planning...

It's just something I was thinking of when the time comes for the Invisible Stalkers, Ukemil, Victor, Hedrack :D , U know, when the shiznit really hits the purple fan :evil

Well, the invisible stalkers are very good at tracking (except in Andorax's campaign :) ). I don't think they need the detect good.

Sure sure...rub it in. Just keep on reminding me that my Invisible Stalkers can't track worth beans.

Just to let you know, here's my recommended means for finding 'em.

Hedrack memorizes several divinations. First, he casts scrying, and attempts to scry upon a member of this adventuring band he's heard about...a fighter, if at all possible.

If he sees what appears to be the CRM, or any enclosed dungeon environment, he then casts Locate Creature and starts pacing through the halls of the Outer Fane. At one point, I had calculated that Hedrack can successfully "locate creature" any point within the bounds of the CRM if he walks from the Earth door to the Air door to the Fire door.

Failing that, call down a SER (Spider-Eater Rider), mount up behind him, fly up above the CRM, and cast Find the Path. The most direct route, for an airborne target, is going to be a crow-flies straight line, which should give him a fairly good direction to where the party went...send in the trackers from there.

Oh yes, almost forgot...if your party's fond of Rope Trick, they're going to foil the first few ambushes. That's ok. When the time comes, have the Stalkers track to their vanishing point and report this to Naquient. She has, if I recall, a Wand of Dispel Magic.

"Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Well; IMC, the party has made friends with the Orcs, but have only taken out the air temple and the Fire Bridge so far.

Fachish still lives and will be after them soon (almost have a few warrior Troll of a clan convinced of helping him)

Anywayz; They aren't really scared of the place yet. Not that many crazy encounters yet and they have just had an offer by the Water Temple (which, with so many goody goody in the party was refused, as well as the Cleric of Grumbar not liking to cross water). So no rope tricks or anything yet, but that will come soon enuff, now that people are gunning for them. (Heunar also still lives)
