Chymon's Feats
I noticed in the Errata and FAQ that Chymon has the Snatch feat. My question is whether or not she is eligible for the feat. She is a 19HD dragon, so she got her last feat at 18HD, when she was still a juvenile. She would still have been classified as a large dragon at this point, so she couldn’t have taken Snatch.
Obviously, I would love for her to pick one of the characters up and throw them in the Stalagos, but at the same time I want to be fair to my players.
What do you all think?
BTW – Big thanks to all who contributed to the FAQ. It is extremely helpful.

Re: Chymon's Feats
Interesting point. Two things, though. She was given snatch in the 3.5 conversion to make her more compatible with the 3.0 rules. Also, it's possible dragons do not advance quite as linearly as everything else. They're probably the only monster that advances due solely to age. Theoretically, she can't become Huge and 18HD at the same time, but perhaps she is different. Besides, there are other alternatives. Perhaps she was granted snatch as a bonus feat as a boon from Tharizdun. Perhaps she drew from the Deck of Many Things. Perhaps she was granted a wish at some point. If you're players complain, tell them just be glad you didn't give her snatch as a bonus feat.
On other thing, there's no way your players will know better. If they do, smack them upside the head and say, "You're not the DM right now! Shut up and play the game!"

Re: Chymon's Feats
Pfft.... no small characters in my game, so wasting a feat on Snatch is a gift to my players! By the rules, Grushnak is correct; IMO, we should change Snatch to something else for the conversion doc, since strict, almost religious, adherance to the 3.5 rules was our stated goal.

Re: Chymon's Feats
If a DM chose to bend the rules a bit and give the feat to her, I don’t think it would be a huge deal (pun intended ). Personally, I am pretty strict with my players in this regard, so I will adhere to the same standard.
I would consider the Wingover feat. It is a very useful feat for dragons who are typically poor or clumsy flyers. That is what I will give her.
Now I am hoping that one of the players has a small character before they get to her. I would love to see Chymon crush and pin the poor fella beneath its girth.

Huge Snatch
You can always modify her spell selection and give her reduce person.

Now that is an evil idea. Since it is a Fort save, I can see a Wizard being a prime target for that tactic.

Re: Chymon's Snatch
How about giving her a scroll of mass reduce person? Now you get to watch the party flee like ants. Heh heh...sounding good to me.

Re: Chymon's Snatch
I think I will give her Reduce Person and Eagle's Splendor. That makes the low save DCs a bit higher, and it makes the fear save tougher.
Mass Reduce Person . . . now that would be fun. I think the players would have to change their shorts when they realize why the dragon shrank them.

Re: Chymon's Snatch
Great catch! Too bad it mucks up her flavor :/
I agree with msherman, though. We've tried to be pretty straight about the conversion and it's trivial to add comments, so I did so. Here's some for your review (or trashing ):
In the room-by-room changes:
Quote: Technically, the paragraph under Tactics about Snatch should be removed. As noted in her stat block below, Chymon won’t be able to get Snatch until 21 HD since she was only Large at 18 HD (Snatch requires Huge+), her last gain of a feat. However, the rule bending here is not very great to retain Monte’s original flavor for her.
And in her stat block, merged around I2k's original comments about her feats:
Quote: She gets two new feats (besides the change to Improved Sunder). I chose Multiattack and Ability Focus (breath weapon). The DC is quite high, so be careful. Snatch is not technically available to her since her last feat came at 18 HD when she was still Large. It has been officially replaced with Wingover here, which could be very useful for a fight that moves out to the bridges. However, given her tactics in the text and the general flavor that Snatch gave her, you might want to bend the rules a tad here for her. Other good choices for any of these three new feats are Improved Natural Weapon (bite) or Cleave, especially if you’d rather replace Snatch with something more melee oriented.

Re: Chymon's Snatch
That sounds good. Even with the changes, I think she still represents a formidable challenge to a party.
