Whoa!
First off, I just found the 3.5 conversion document on ZansForCans site....I sat in stunned silence for about 5 minutes, just staring at it. You guys did absolutely amazing. Monte ought to give each of you a dollar or a beer or something! A friend of my brother's is going to be running RttToEE soon, and it's going to make everything so much easier for him! I wish I had it when I started:D Congrats to all of you!

As for my campaign: After a 2 month break we're coming back together for the last session, and I really think it's going to be anticlimactic. We've a group of 5 PCs, half 12th level, half 13th, camped out by the altars in the Recovered Temple to prevent any ritual, and Imix, Maliskra, and Laereth are about to come waltzing right in. I just see TMK (Total Multiverse Kill) written all over the situation. If you've any suggestions, that'd be awesome, but the session is Sunday at noon :p You better be quick, lest Tharizdun comes and eats us all :eek

I've joked with my players that if they don't succeed, which they realize they probably won't, we won't be able to play any more D&D as Tharizdun will have destroyed the entire multiverse, which means all of Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, etc. In fact, I'll need to call WotC to let them know they can't produce anything else, as the settings were all destroyed. Looks like you should all be sweating with my players tomorrow! ;)

Re: Whoa!
I'm happy enough with Monte just continuing to maintain this forum! And, since I can't drink alcohol anymore, I give my beer to Siobharek.

"I really think it's going to be anticlimactic."

That actually seems to be a common event. Beyond placing a 10 inch "miniature" on the battlemat, there's not much else to do to strike fear into the hearts of such powerful PC's. Oh wait, you mean that the party will lose! Don't sweat it, they're stronger than you think. JUST DON'T HOLD BACK! Go for the TPK. That way, if they succeed, they really did succeed. Of the three, I think only Lareth might flee. Heck, he might even decide to join the party during the battle (or after, if Imix is dead). "No, don't kill me! I renounce Tharizdun!"

Re: setting
Actually, Dark Sun would make a suitable post-apocalyptic Tharizdun setting.

Re: Whoa!
Wow, Inf, that was pretty decent of you. Thanks. Especially as I have shamefully had absolutely NO part of the conversion due to time constraints.

Thankfully, the missus gave me a count-down calendar consisting of, you guessed it, 2x12 different kinds of beer from a small brewery in Jutland (that large peninsula in Denmark - get a map). I'll just pretend one of them was from you ;)

Re: Whoa!
Yeah, I know, that's why I gave mine to you. Mrs. ZansForCans doesn't want the new daddy to have more than one. ;)

It's finished
That has to be the most anticlimatic ending ever.

The party faces off with Maliskra, Laereth, and Imix in the Recovered Temple. Laereth dies right after he blows the horn. Imix comes in and kills 3 of the 5 PCs in 2 rounds. The other two are ethereal and invisible. The invisible one kills Maliskra while the other one tries some junk to get at the Orb of Oblivion in Imix's hand (going back to material inside his clench fist, then trying to planeshift, etc. He actually used a destruction spell on him and Imix FAILED the save (rolled a 1), but the PC didn't get through SR (needed a 6, rolled a 3), which was very sad. I realize that was reverse order, but I rolled the save w/o thinking about it. So that PC is dropped on the ground by Imix then goes gaseous form. The other PC goes invisible again, uses a wand of teleport to get into his hand, does an awesome tumble check to get Imix to not notice he is there, then uses the wand to teleport away to Greyhawk with the Orb. The first PC follows. Imix busts out of the Temple and begins to walk around killing things, angry that he doesn't have the orb and all the DDs are dead.

Here's where it get's good.

The two remaining PCs res. the other PCs, go back and get their stuff, then GO TO THE OUTER FANE to put the Orb in the black sun shrine, because they know it "goes to someplace else." One PC JUMPS INTO THE SPHERE with it. The other PCs wait a bit and when he doesn't return they prep a couple of planeshifts and jump in after him.

The End

Well.

At least they saved the multiverse, right?

I'd be tempted to houserule that any sphere of annihilation is actually a planar portal leading directly to Tharizdun's prison. Oh my, that should provide some tasty fun.

-Thrommel, who's also tempted by Krispy Kreme doughnuts - a much safer, saner type of tasty fun.

That is just too freaking funny. Sorry! Don't tell your players I said that... unless they are laughing already ;) Oh man...

Re: beer. Well, I might just have to go steal that extra beer if I make it to Dwingeloo next year :b Hey, that's what, a day's drive and two countries away eh, Siob? :)

Re: It's finished
Hmm... Strange ending. How do the players feel about it?

Zans, Dwingeloo? Where's that? If it's in Belgium, they have good beer there :D

Actually, I did that precise thing with spheres of ann. IMC. The PCs, along with the orb, are now being driven in insane by Tharizdun, locked away with him :rollin
They got a good laugh out of it all :D The especially like how the Orb of Oblivion is now with Tharizdun, but he still can't get out. :p

Netherlands. All I know about what's good there is flowers. Well, and certain other plant deviates that are slightly more legal :b

Re: It's finished
Close to Belgium, then. Good chance of good beer. And have fun on the more botanically inclined Amsterdam cafes!
