Inputting RttToEE into DM Genie?

So here I sit, inputting this big baby into DM Genie step by step ... oh so time consuming. Will probably take my entire XMas vacation.

Just wondering if anybody else has tried to do this, if they ran into huge problems?

DM Genie is great for creating new adventures, but trying to input a CAMPAIGN all at one time ... man o man.

Are you inputting the 3.0 version, or inputting it with the 3.5 revisions?

I only ask because I'm going to be starting the campaign in January, and would love to get a copy of your data files if they're the 3.5 version.

I don't have or use DM Genie. Can you import text files, such as the stat blocks from the conversion doc? I think a program like that should be able to import the standard stat block.

Once you are done could you post it to Zan's site?

zans.clanplaid.net/

Also, can DMGenie handle the Madness domain powers?

Inputting for the masses ...

Currently a bit slow going. I'm only inputting the parts of Hommlet I foresee using, directly, and which have NPCs. Genning NPCs like Yether the Keen, where needed.

For NPCs I'm using the converted stat blocks ... DMGenie's stat-block importer uses a few different standards from the ones used here. I have to tweak a few things, which takes a few minutes (getting the hang of it now) and I have to individually input their weapons (it does weapons differently and incorporates them more fully, so each weapon has to be created and tagged to the NPC).

For advanced monsters and monsters with a few classes, I imagine I'm going to just generate one and use it repeatedly.

Slow going, as I said ... I'll be working in installments ahead of my players, I think.

Oh, and ...

About posting this to Zans site ... "inputting" the adventure into DM genie means, basically, putting enough information into the program that I don't have to have the book with me at the table ... IE, room descriptions, NPC descriptions, etc etc.

I don't mind doing it and putting it up, but I don't want to miff anybody off about it.

It's a bit of a sticky issue nowadays, especially with some e-datasets being required to be sold now (i.e. PCGen/CMP). However, I would hazard a guess that the RTEE files for PCGen are neither updated with our errata or will ever be updated for 3.5. One wonders how useful that makes them... I personally have found data files made by this group to be much more useful.

Anyway, much of the content of the file archives, by nature, use or contain information from the adventure--just like these forums. Most of it is useless without the book. If files appear in the archive that someone doesn't want to be there, a polite e-mail to me explaining what it is and why is all that's needed.

That's all I'll say about it without editorializing more... than I have already ;)
